  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev: Canelo Fight Will Be Interesting Believe Me!

Sergey Kovalev has a message for those that think this is all about cashing out for him. The WBO light heavyweight champion might be an underdog against Canelo Alvarez, but the career-high, eight-figure purse he'll earn for facing the iconic Mexican isn't the only number that's important to him. The Russian veteran wants win No. 35 as well, especially since some factions of fans and media have dismissed his chances of overcoming a smaller opponent who'll move up two weight classes to fight for his 175-pound championship.

You should fight Canelo with iron plaques implanted in your guts, Sergey.

It's going to be life changing money for Kovalev. Coming right as he is closing out his career.

I hope he uses it wisely.

I see the fight playing out like Ward said in this short video on ESPN Boxing. But I think it will end sooner like Abel Sanchez said, between the 7-9. Canelo, too quick, better boxer, better footwork, absorbs shots better, smarter in the ring.

So Canelo could not KO a small middleweight GGG and a large middleweight Daniel Jacobs.
And he gonna KO the champion at 175 who just defeated Eldier Alvarez and Anthony Yarde.

Great. Best of luck with that

I hope they do a second unofficial weight check before the fight. I’ll bet if they do, there will be less than 5 pounds between them. This is a very good fight and it is no David vs Goliath.

It will be very interesting to see the physique Canelo will unveil in November. If he appears anywhere near as large and lean at 175 as he was at 160 and below, there will be newfound skepticism of his "methods".
