Why is Kovalev shot because he lost 3 fights?

Good post..yet Canelo is supposedly fighting tougher fights than GGG as well? Hard to argue that looking at those 8 fights vs GGG's last 8

That looks like roughly the same exact level of opponent to me over the last 8...the rest of their names aren't too much different either over the course of their careers...GGG just has a few more overall wins, and about 5 more good wins imo
I agree with this post. I disagree with the thread starter's statement that Kovalev has 3 losses due to taking harder riskier fights. Kovalev is not as good a fighter as GGG. He never was and never will be. This will become very clear when in my opinion Canelo destroys Kovalev after having two close wars with GGG.

It’s excuses made by haters because they know Canelo is going to win so they will try to discredit him by saying Kovalev is shot before the bout even though Kovalev just beat a young challenger and holds the World Title . These people act like this is a Fight between Ali vs Spinks or Marciano vs Louis

Definitely he is diminished but he’s not shot. Say what you want about Alvarez and Yarde but they are no bums. Kovalev looked good in those fights. He looked to have a better plan and be in better shape physically than the 2nd Ward fight and 1st Alvarez fight.

ggg fought canelo twice while kovalev fought ward twice and i think canelo is a much better fighter. ggg got robbed in the first and the second was a draw imo. kovalev got robbed in the first fight and the second was a lol so thats pretty even. the rest actually favors ggg slightly so im not sure how you could say kovalev has been taking riskier fights. not true. hes just been losing. hence why canelo is fighting him

Even now you are trashing GGG and building up Kovalev by saying Kovalev took more risks and took harder fights which is BS. GGG made 20 title defenses and that's a hell of a lot more than Kovalev. Some of the twenty guys he fought were not very good but many of them were damn good fighters that GGG haters have turned into bums after he knocks them out. I followed Kovalev since he first won the title and seen all his fights since then. I know damn well he is shot now and just a shell of the bad MFer he used to be. The old Kovalev would not have been KOed by Alvarez or struggled with Yarde. The old Kovalev would be the betting favorite to beat Canelo. Today's Kovalev is a 4 to 1 underdog because the betting places study fighters and they know Kovalev is shot and will likely get KOed with a body attack from boxing's best body puncher.
Do you know what belt lil g defended 20 times?
The same belt Canelito has at 168 translated to 160.

Well if Canelito beats up Kov or loses then I would love to watch lil g do the same thing (fight Kov) and see what happens . I would pay to watch that fight.

It will certainly be an interesting fight...if Canelo wins I will give him credit...but it will possibly tell the story of how good GGG is as well imo

I would definitely watch that...funny we just posted at the same time but I was just saying that Canelo-Kov will help to tell us how good GGG is as well in a way.

I would prefer to see GGG mix it up vs some others at 175 or even 168 over Kov though...they seem pretty friendly so it would be a little awkward fight imo.

My initial post was in response to the TS who said Kov had been taking tougher fights...in my estimation those 8 fight streaks are quite similar as far as tough fights go...we share the same sentiments on Ward, I have never been a fan and think he was largely a product of home reffing and judging...I think the Ward fights were tough though for Kov as far as the cards being similarly stacked against him compared GGG facing Nelo.

I think GGG won both Nelo fights quite clearly, 8-4 both times, but I thought Canelo fought well in each fight, in different ways at times...for the record.
