If in 9.5 out of 10 people's eyes the series is tied 1-1 cause definitely lost the first fight/gifted a draw and the 2nd fight was a very close win then a rubber match is required. Maybe those wars with ggg took a lot out of canelo and with canelos weak knees he doesn't think he'll be able to move as good in the 3rd fight. I'd really like to see canelo rematch ggg and Lara. Fight Charlo Spence Hurd Jaime Calum smith instead of an aging can't take body shot kovalov and these paper champ like Rocky Fielding.

You know immediately after, I don't think many really wanted to see Lara-Canelo run it back...but I actually think that would be a cool fight now.

US boxing is perhaps the most corrupt sports entity on earth. You get guys like GGG who was on course for an undefeated career, only to be ****d by corruption.

For reasons like this, I tend to evaluate foreign fighters (Cubans, eastern euros, some Africans, Central Americans etc) a bit higher than what their records/current status show...they just always seem to get the short end of the stick, compared to Mexican, US and UK fighters imo.

No because it wasn’t even that close. Closes fight one kd usually always wins. Unless your Andre Ward lol who I felt lost that 1st fight. Now that was some BS cards. GGG/Canelo was very close both times. Only a fool would say otherwise

Fair enough, though I thought the first fight was a clear win. Also, a knockdown in the second fight might have just been another draw. 10-8 is not a requirement if you don’t also give them the round

Who says you have to bet a winner? I bet the over 11.5 rounds both times. The first fight I bet a few ppl who took ggg by KO in under 4 rounds and another in under 7 or 8 I believe?

Got ya...good points...I can't exactly remember but I think I felt GGG would KO Canelo in the first fight...I didn't think he could move like Jacobs did...so his movement around the ring surprised me, and his punch resistance was very good for his first fight at 160, especially vs a big puncher.

Yeah I can't call Kov-Canelo...part of me think it is a bridge too far for Nelo...if he legitimately beats Kov or even fights competitive with him, with no weight restrictions, he should get a lot of credit imo...Kov may be fading, but he is not shot imo...and he still may be best at 175...to jump 2 weight classes and face a champ like that is impressive.

I think it has more to do with him getting the W officially, and knowing that they were two tough fights, he would rather not go into a tough 3rd fight, when eventually I think one of him or GGG will break down and hurt/stop the other one...if he can get $35 million per fight to fight other fighters, I think those are generally less taxing fights than a GGG fight.

So if he already has the legacy enhancing 'win', why go fight him again...there is downside in the fight and not as much upside probably...he should/would imo still get credit though if they fight again and he stops GGG or wins definitively...some will say GGG was washed but it would put a stamp on the fights in Canelo's favor...unless the fans really push for it though I can't see Canelo wanting that fight again.

This is Canelo. Robbing fighters and then running away with it as he covers his ears. He's good enough to be an 'Elite Fighter' but not good enough to truly distinguish himself. All he does is nick it by a hair and let the judges do the work.

And GGG hadnt ventured out of 160. And while he will go down as one of the best ever at middleweight it was only because he defended against cans. Steve Rolls? Dominic Wade? Ko’d Vanes who was a 154 fighter and not fighting for years? Welterweight Brook?
