Now he is fighting a guy who in my opinion beat Jacobs and looked better against Jacobs then Canelo did. Canelo literally dropped his belt and ran out of the division from this guy yet Golovkin comes in and instantly accepts the fight.

a truly ret4rded assessment on the state of Golovkin's career

He’s fighting SD, he fought Canelo twice, he tried to fight Canelo a third time and Canelo refused, he fought Danny Jacobs.

That’s Canelo’s second hardest opponent, a guy Canelo ducked and a universally recognized top 5 p4p fighter.

Alvarez will be taking a risk with Kovalev.
But seriously Chavez Jr at 164 and Fielding at 168 were not risky fights for Canelo and he used his A side advantage to make both those guys easier competition than they already were.
As of today neither Golovkin or Alvarez has taken a risk out of 160.

Lmao.........first thing canelo went up to fight golovkin not the other way around. Canelo has fought Lara, cotto, Jacob's at 160 golovkin at 160, mayweather. Trout, and now kovalov at a full 175......no matter what u think about the outcome of the fights theres no way golovkin has or ever fought better comp then canelo nore took the risks that canelo has taken. Canelos moving up in weight mixed with the risk brings his comp level up to a 9......golovkins comp has been a 5. Just average. Only a babbling weirdo fanboy who loves living in ignorance wouldn't be able to see that, I would never take somone like bolidogs seriously......

Canelo is a great fighter but he's got fifty somewhat fights and has like five fights worthy of mention and yet somehow has the best active resume in the sport. I don't know if that speaks to the politics of boxing or what but I don't fault him for it, don't hold it against him either. Golovkin has a whole other set off issue from me about his resume and particularly that he had K2 trying to be friendly to promoters rather than fighting to make fights. Loeffler, in my opinion, wasted Golovkin's best years and Golovkin let him and that's a huge gripe I have with him. He should've demanded better match making. It's not the first time I express this issue, I had the same issue with Danny Garcia too. So it's not isolated to Canelo, Golovkin, hell I feel the same about Thurman, Porter, Bradley too. That hall of fame opponent list on a resume seems to be dying with Manny and Floyd. You can barely get these guys now to fight each other.
Good post. One thing I'd disagree with is the 5 notable fights for Alvarez.
I think it's 3 notable wins, Lara, GGG and Jacobs. I'd guess you'd put Trout and Cotto in there.
I think Trout has proven he was overrated by losing to Williams, Hurd and the Charlo's. As for Miguel, he had been in too many wars (including beat downs by Pac and Margarito) before Canelo not too be called shot.

Nah I’d say Floyd, Lara, Golovkin, Jacobs, and I’ll include Miguel since he had a drop left in the tank. Not even about the wins, if you take the fights the result is negligible because it’s still on your resume. The whole trout, Mosley, khan, Kirkland, lopez mentions piss me off though. Again, it’s the climate of boxing when 10% of your fights make you have the most notable resume in the sport and not the fault of the man, clearly he’s willing to fight. Whereas golovkin has a handler who is bette qualified to run a hippies commune, Alvarez has a handler who is hell bent on pissing everyone off. It’s had limiting effects for both because to some degree I think Oscar has said things that made Canelo look bad just like Abel said stuff that made Golovkin look bad. There is an irony the fan bases dislike each other so much considering they are equals in a boxing ring (unarguably true) and are the Ying to the others yang in terms of the defect of those who manage their careers

Agreed, comparing resumes is always guess work, but most guys play the name game which is dumb.
It's true, GGG and Canelo are ying and yang and it's a shame they're not fighting a third time.

I think you're going a bit overboard but I like it lol.

I do think GGG gets too much sh.it for steamrolling Vanes...it was a solid win/performance...similar with Rolls...Rolls is no pfp guy but he was a solid tune-up fight and GGG got the job done as he always has.

I don't think Canelo was scared of SD of course...but then again I don't think GGG was scared of SD before either...wish some kept it a bit more real on here though.

I do feel the actual quality of fighter that each guy has fought, at the time they fought them, has more or less been the same...maybe a slight edge to Nelo but a pretty big edge in performance to GGG...he has no close fights/always was dominant so the only recourse some have is to overly slight his opposition, imo.
