Thanks for attempting to answer the question as you're the first to actually try.

That said, I see no opponents in that list that dismiss my theory of Kovalev still being the #1 most proven challenge at 175.

The closest is Gvov's win over Stevenson. But then I would have to negate the fact that Stevenson was very inactive, in his 40's and was almost KO'd and out on his feet by Badou Jack one fight prior.

Yes, definitely. Snatching blood soaked victory from the jaws of defeat in one of the most exciting HW brawls for years can only enhance Fury's reputation and make his rematch with Wilder even bigger.

Yeah man such eye injuries are practical circumstances when prepping for Wilder!

It's 3 years since Kovalev "beat" Ward.

That's a long time for a fighter in his mid/late 30s and Kovalev has been clean
KO'd since then and is clearly not the same fighter now.

Great, now that you admit that you thought Kovalev beat Ward in the first fight and the 2nd fight Kov should've won due to a technicality, then technically speaking, you agree that Kovalev only has one loss. One in which he avenged.

I'd be careful mentioning age though. Especially when one of the guys you tout as the best at 175 (Gvov) best victory came against an inactive 42 year old.

Lastly, can you name Gvov, Beterbiev and Bivol's top 3 wins?

It was just a cut that bled a lot, not a detached retina or a fractured eye socket!

Canelo needed more stitches than Fury to repair his eye after getting it sliced up by GGG.

No, because it's not a relevant question and I can't be arsed thinking about it.

How is it not a relevant question?

In order to seem someone #1 in the division or the weakest link, you need proof to support that claim.

Kovelev is 37 years old. He admits to having an alcohol problem and in the last 2 years he has been clean KO'd by Alvarez and almost stopped by Yarde.

Those are the reasons why Canelo wanted to fight him instead of Bivol or Beterbiev.

Kovalev is younger than Pacquiao. Kovalev has always drunk Vodka as do most Russians. Kovalev drunk alcohol back when most of you feared for Andre Ward's life in the build up to their first fight. This is nothing new so why start talking about it now?

If you call Kovalev old, then you're literally discrediting Gvov's best victory in the same breath as he beat an inactive 42 year old.

If Canelo beat Gvov, you all would say he was almost stopped by Tommy K and only beat a 42 year old who was one fight removed from almost getting stopped by Jack.

If Canelo beats Beterbiev, you all would say he was 35 and only had 12 fights while being dropped twice by Jeff Paige Jr and Callum Smith respectively.

If he beats Bivol, you all would say Bivol beat Chilemba and Pascal after Kovalev and beat an already defeated Smith Jr and Barrera. Oh yeah, and was green with 16 fights.

It really is a no win situation.

But these same guys have no problem with Golovkin fighting Steve Rolls, Vanes Matrorisian and not rematching Jacobs after their close fight.

We are living in an era of horrible horrible boxing fans.
