Without Oscar...Canelo would have been a tough, mildly successful fighter. Everyone seems to forget that nearly every super star was either built by Arum, Goldenboy or King.

PBC fighters either fight for ok pay and keep more of it or rely upon a real promoter to come along with a massive deal. Without promoters the boxing game would consolidate into one small group of dictators that control everything like the Dana Whites operation.

Cut out the middle man. Every boxer than can pull ratings and out asses in seats should be their own promoter. The middle man promoter is an outdated concept now

He has such a high appreciation for boxing he wants to (yawn) revolutionize boxing with his own brand...just like every other bright-eyed naive promoter who thinks they can clean up the administrative and political cesspool that is boxing.
when i do ever said dana is my lord??? lmfao i just mentions the facts. nobody gives a **** about top rank shows. they are garbage and have no buzz. bob has only himself to blame. wait till crawford leaves him too.
love him or hate him dana model is getting copied by other promoters. thats why al haymon created pbc so all his fighters can fight each other most of the time. same thing with hearn who said i am copying everything ufc has done. stop being fool.
most fight fans subscribed to espn plus for ufc cards, not those trash cans boxing shows.

If you like liars that brag and boast about how great they are and how they're going to destroy their opponents, there are countless examples of "personality" in boxing. If you want a level headed intelligent fighter who is honest and humble, AJ's the man.

I am bored to death by the mouthy bs personality shared by 99% of fighters, thank goodness for AJ.
Awesome post. AJ is the man people want to be and jealousy is the reason some need him to fail...

Joshua’s personality is carefully affected though. He tries so hard to be perfect with everything he says, you can tell he’s thinking about it and choosing his words before he speaks to say the correct humble or inspirational thing in almost every interview he’s done since he turned pro.
His brand is based around his Mr Perfect image, to attract the crossover fans and sponsorship deals. He went on record saying he wanted to be the first boxing billionaire - that could only be achieved by being a marketing dream - clean living, no unsavoury trash talking, family friendly etc.
We’ve the seen the mask start slip with the texts to Eddie Chambers though, and calling Lewis a clown, just because he said he should change trainer - not exactly scathing comments.

Believe me, I would not want be a fake with the dry personality of Joshua. I don’t care how much money he has, he’s boring af. I either cringe or literally zone out any time I watch an interview.
I dropped ESPN+ a long time ago when they said they wouldn’t do PPV fights and then did PPV fights. I’m still paying like $10 a month for DAZN which I like because I can watch it anywhere. I like going bars and watching it while I drink
You know that you can do that with every other outlet (ESPN/ESPN+, FOX, SHO etc)?

i got the year sub for DAZN in June and pretty happy with it so far as it streams great on Roku, but for some reason always freezes on my computer. As for fights, its not too bad, but waiting for them to live up to their PPV level fights. Cant beat the price, however wish they had other sports. I love baseball, but HATE their baseball show, MLB Network's (the original version) blows it away

In the short term sure paying 20 dollars for a Canelo fight is better for me than 70 dollars but in the medium to long term its bad for me as a person that wants to see big name fighters fighting big name opponents. DAZN model is unstainable and flys in the face of reality.

There are no secret boxing fans that will pay 20 dollars for a fight but won't pay 80. If you will pay 20 you will pay 80. The number of hard core boxing fans that will pay for anything boxing on TV/Streaming is under 100k.

What is worse is the inflation they are causing in the sport. 20 plus million dollars they are paying for ggg v Dervy a fight that if it was last year on HBO would not have a 2 million dollar total budget for. This fight needs over a million subscribers to pay for itself.

bob being saying this **** since last year. DAZN is just started and they are growing.
Outside of Canelo fights there is just no evidence at all that it is growing. Allegedly nothing outside of Canelo has done even 75k live views.

Hearn kind of told on himself last week when he said the Fury deal for TR is a disaster since he's been fighting on ESPN+ and no one has watched. I mean if no one is watching ESPN+, who is watching DAZN, an app with far less subscribers? Thought that was funny.

Anyways, Ramirez/Hooker didn't sell all that well either and that fight had two fighters well more known than Navarrete and De Vaca. Very few cards do the types of numbers fans think they do. Really wish the east coast commissions would reveal the REAL numbers and then we would see just how little live gate these cards produce.
