I don't know how you win a tournament like that and then just sit on your ass for a year.

Usyk won, and he fought Bellew (Basically the last remaining name at CW) and now is moving up to Heavyweight. he has a social media presence, he gives interviews. The tournament has made him a household name in the boxing community.


Callum Smith on the other hand? ****, half the time I mistakingly call him Caleb Smith now.

JMO but think it comes down to him being paid big money for WBSS but gaining no UK fans because his fights were abroad. So he comes back to the UK being offered smaller paydays, in smaller venues than he'd like, and waits it out until Hearn offers more cash to prop up one of his US cards.

If Smith claims to be the best at 168, why doesn't he prove it by trying to unify (apart from with BJS)? He hasn't voiced any real intention to from what I've heard from him. He has one good win on his record so far in Groves.
Why doesn't he go after the Plant/ Benavidez winner?
Sounds to me like he just wants money fights with Canelo or BJS.
One good win on his record doesn't put him in the super fight bracket yet.

On a side note, he's an excellent fighter but has zero charisma and is very boring, so he's not the easiest to promote, apart from his performances in the ring.
