Comments Thread For: Trainer: Yarde Had Kovalev Out; Showed He Belongs At This Level

Yarde:
+ Above average chin
+ Above average speed
+ Athletic
- Bad footwork, ended up following Kovalev around
- Leaves his left hand down
- Gassed by the 5th round
- Abandoned pull counter game plan
- Eventually had no game plan at all
- Had no jab of his own
- Had no answer for Kovalev's jab
- No combination punching
And that's not counting his preparation. Yarde definitely put up a spirited effort but is he elite level? Unless in his next fights he shows signs of improving I say no. Put another way: Out of Yarde's performance I remember the 1st round where Yarde started off sharp, the 8th round where Kovalev was hurt - and that's it out of 11 rounds.Comment

and even then, his speed only seemed above average for the first 2 rounds. Not to mention using a Philly Shell stance without actually using the Philly Shell is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.Yarde:

To add to that, in a couple of years, Yarde will be the wrong side of 30 - which is when his athleticism and speed may not come so easy. No boxer should be 30 and struggling with the fundamentals, time is running outYarde:

So Ajayi..... Kovalev was out in the 8th? Wow, I guess that must've been Kovalev's ghost who rallied in rounds 9 on, and KNOCKED OUT your inexperienced exhausted kid in the 11th. Gee, funny how my eyes were deceiving me all along. Sure glad you cleared things up.
If the kid has anything upstairs, he'll fire this clown and get with an actual legit trainer. No sparring? LOL!!!!!! What a sick joke.Comment
