This is the exact reason why I think Yarde needs to fire Tunde, it’s not the pre fight boasting or talk, I mean Buddy gave Kovalev a good corner talk, warned him am pulling you out if you take a beating in the next round.

That woke Kovalev up, am sure he really wasn’t going to pull Kovalev out, but Kovalev wasn’t going to take that chance, since we all knew Buddy is capable of doing so.

Yarde ask his corner what to do about Kovalev’s jab after that 9th round, the reply was “Lions in the camp!”.... Tunde is a motivational speaker, that I help get you through fighting South American cab drivers but at this sort of level it would get you KTFO. Yarde should have been pulled out at the end of the 10th round. Tunde didn’t even see the warning signs, he still sent him out for the 11th round claiming he never seen him tired... ok mate.

The purpose of this thread was to highlight people from within the boxing world who have gone in on Tunde. I presume someone like Kevin Mitchell or Carl Frampton has a more sophisticated view on things than most of us on this forum.

I have to respond to your post, though, because it seems obvious now, after watching Tunde's two post-fight interviews, that Tunde is in over his head. If he was coaching in my gym, I'd change gyms. "Gotta be positive, gotta stay focussed..." yeah yeah, more important than that is you GOTTA BE REALISTIC. No good sending your guy into a gun-fight with a knife, saying, 'Turn up, throw up, fuuck up' or whatever his mantra is

Sadly, I think Tunde's response to this defeat may well be to double-down. I fear we may be hearing, 'Lions in the camp!' twice as often from now on

Sounds about right instead of eating a kobe steak like a man and reviewing the fight for future improvements he's sitting there like a fat ****head crying into his empty haagen dazs whispering "lions in the camp"

Tunde has done a good job.

It's Warren who has failed to provide Yarde with the correct fights to get him the experience he needed at this level.

I’d agree with that, but i think also it shows how rubbish the rankings are that a guy can become mandatory by fighting journeymen.

Warren certainly should’ve matched him tougher on the way up, but then i’m sure they took into account that he never had any amateur experience, which is why he had been fed a load of easy fights early on.

It’s difficult really. You can’t really rush a guy to tough fights without that amateur experience but at the same time you might not want to give up the mandatory spot, you may never get another chance.

As for Tunde, it’s fair enough to blame him for flaws that are maybe caused by lack of proper training techniques, but at the same time you can say he’s just trained a really green fighter with no real background to go 11 rounds with Kovalev, almost stopping him at once point. It can be looked at two ways.
