people have no idea what they are talking about

there is a thread currently running... does Kovalev have one of the best jabs in history?

Kovalev just lost to a guy who beat him with his jab

when most people think of great jabs... they think of straight, stiff, disrupting, ramrod, jabs

Ward has one of the best-educated jabs I have ever seen

he completely controls a fight with his left hand

it is the whole package... accuracy, timing, defence, controlling the distance, setting up combinations, continual feinting

dudes seem to think that he continually got lucky

one clown who posts here recently stated that Ward is no better than Barrera Bika and Miranda

And as an American he was protected and promoted well...but saying he was legit when he fought all his fights at home...and someone like GGG or Loma are overhyped when they were ATG amateurs, and then as pros have proven their worth by getting uncontroversial stoppages, often times on the road, and never in their own backyard.

Just don't see how people can have those takes without having immense bias...almost have to tell yourself you aren't see what is actually happening.

        Good posts...

He absolutely talks out of both sides of his mouth...it's unbelievable some of the stuff he says, if he didn't do it so often I would be shocked...he has always imo wanted to make himself out to be something that he wasn't.

And because he was rather protected his whole career he knows deep down that he has to try and get loose with the truth to create the narrative that he wants to be true...because unfortunately he wasn't a good enough boxer to really fulfill the legacy that he wanted/acts like is true.

Great post man...Dawson was getting KOed cold in sparring in the lead up to that fight...hard to really tout that one...the weight killed him as you said.

        How old are you?

Lol I guess people believe whatever they want man...imo the guy who was always injured/suing his promoter/in contract issues and sitting out...who mandated that he had 3 tune up fights before Kovalev...who never fought away from home or even really in a neutral site.

I mean I don't really see how anyone can say he was wanting that fight when at the time he was injured and said he needed fights to tune up...G said call me when you're ready...Ward tried to get some attention after G-Lemieux was announced by sending in a contract right after that fight...when everyone knew that Canelo-Cotto winner was next after Lemieux.

Ward was just trying to get some publicity and I guess try and rile up his fans and those who hate GGG...and I guess it worked..but yeah to say he really wanted that fight is crazy imo...he never really negotiated on even terms in his whole career while GGG more or less has shown to do so.

Ward would never fight anyone on relatively even terms because it is pretty clear that in neutral settings he would have a lot of trouble beating B class boxers...not hating on him I just watched a lot of his fights and anyone saying they saw great boxing skills from Dre...I mean what were you watching lol..idk I don't get it.

So yeah...saying you want a fight is completely different than actually wanting a fight on even terms...he could have fought Froch in the UK or Bute in Canada for BIG money..but never did...I wonder why...come on man, as your moniker says, wake up!! lol
You obviously have no idea of what you're talking about.

Golovkin said he would fight anyone from 154 lbs to 168 lbs. But when Andre Ward raised his hand about his interest in that fight suddenly Golovkin lost his bluster.

GGG said he would only do it at 164 lbs.

Do some research. It's all documented.

Bro...saying you will fight anyone from 154-168 (and I think it was Abel who said that, but it doesn't really matter)...doesn't mean that you give up all of your leverage in a situation and give the other side every single thing they want.

You negotiate...on weight (at times if different weight classes), location, money, etc...I think that is a weak attempt my friend...by that logic you can say someone ducked someone if they didn't go down to 154 and fight for 500k instead of fighting someone else at 160 for 2 million.

I guess each side will want to make it seem like the other side was 'ducking'...but to be honest with Dre's history of being a tough negotiator I don't see that fight as ever happening tbh...he would have wanted everything his way in that fight and he was the B side.

Gotta admit Ward fought everyone there was beat them all although I still think he should have lost to Sergey first fight but he avenged the second time.

I literally have never heard anyone tout Andre's jab

And I mean that's what a jab does man...I don't know if you are relatively new to boxing but the jab is by far the most important punch in boxing...it sets up everything else.

And geez lady ring out your drawers why don't ya lol

Would not really say lucky...he just fought his whole career at home and benefited immensely from the home cooking...he never took a real risk...that's not the type of stuff people should really be applauding.

Smart tough fighter though I will give him that.

The fact of the matter is that a challenge was thrown out by Team Golovkin to fight anyone from 154 to 168. When Ward answered the challenge it was Team Golovkin that started throwing up roadblocks.

Ward beat the best in two weight classes and was willing to fight Golovkin as well. Like I said, I don't know what more he could have done to please the critics.
