Ward took HBO for like 20 mil over the last couple years of his career

not bad for a guy that cant sell "in his own hometown" and nobody cares about and his "boring".

Ward didnt just talk the talk about moving up...he went up and took on an unbeaten p4p top 5 killer at the time...and fought him twice....while youve got MW "champs" who storm out of the ring with their face battered who drag up WW's and have never left their division....

his boxing skills were **** average. anytime someone challenged him he went into wrestle mania mode. this happened his entire career from that olympic fight where he got rocked and held for half the fight(still won lol scoring) to the kessler, bika, kovalev farces. if he had won legit he would have a nice resume but cheating and gift decisions don't look to good

Lost the first first fight to Kovalev and got gifted a decision. Then goes and retires as to avoid affecting his “0”.

If GGG fought all his fights in Karaganda Kazahkstan and grinded his was to unimpressive and controversial decisions against anyone decent...and if Ward was smashing all comers in a premier boxing division like MW...then yeah I would view them completely differently.

That Ward gets hyped up when he just fought at home his whole career and could never really dominate against good comp..I mean I don't really get the appeal...I guess because he was the only American around that weight at that time so he got cheered on for that.

I feel like a lot of the support for Ward and dislike for GGG is driven by factors other than boxing ability...and if they looked different those people would likely change their allegiances based on that alone.

so ggg got a bunch of wrestle mania wins from cheating? yeah that would make him look sooo much better. and ward did duck ggg. just saying he didnt doenst make it true sorry. he said he wasnt ready and went silent for years trying to fight guys like sartison. this was all revealed in court proceedings. then his "offer" to ggg was exposed as a bunch of hot air. a multi fight deal which would have forced him to postpone the canelo fight. get real. its called a poison pill and it means you arent serious about fighting. you aren't supposed to actually believe the crap he says. hes a con man. you still can't tell that? just look at the way he fights. he refused to join the super six unless he got all home fights. he manipulated his way to the top using politics. good for him i guess but im not him. hes garbage

I honestly wonder how many of his 'fans' have actually watched more than a few of his fights...especially the Bika fight

Lost the first Kovalev fight and threw about 50 low blows in the second. No respect for the cheating S.O.B.

Ward was an extremely dirty fighter. He hits off the break almost 100% of the time. He tried to elbow his opponents in close whenever he thought the ref was at a bad angle to see him. Low blows, too indeed. His technique was all around not pleasing to watch, but effective.

What Ward had though, was high ring IQ, defense to avoid punches, and grit/dog to tire out his opponents with all that wrestling shet. Basically, his fitness and defense was how he won the lion's share of his victories... in my opinion, of course.

His personality is very smug on top of all that big-time, which is why he had a small fan base.

But, but... to his credit, at day's end he won at the game of life and boxing, in general. He retired undefeated. He is rich and famous. And finally, he got all of his haters still talking about him, including yours truly.

G-string is an overrated, cherry picking, slightly above average boxer, who is very strong with an iron cast chin. So, I'm no G-string fan, but I do respect him a lot, except when I call him G-string.
