Because Canelo throws a mean uppercut in close range. That's why hahaha. Ask GGG why he didn't go to the body in close..

Nah Canelo way too sharp for Kov at this age. The Russian is ready to go.

Don't forget Yarde has never fought at British title level and he had Kov in trouble. Canelo will beat him easily.

Excellent Fight! Respect to both Warriors for sure! Yarde will be fine, he is extremely talented, showed a GREAT CHIN despite getting stopped late. Fatigue got him stopped by a Jab, he just did not have anything left and having all those Extra Muscles will do that to you especially late in fights

Also his Shoulder Roll is actually not bad, just need to know how to switch it up. Mayweather gave you different looks, he could go from Shoulder Roll to high Guard and be just slick and slippery in a high guard as he is with the shoulder roll. Guys just don't have the timing and reflexes to pull it off as well as Toney, Mayweather and others who was just gifted as using it and had the perfect timing to go with it

Kovalev likely loses to Canelo as well as the rest of the Champions at 175, he is clearly on his last leg but experience allows him to roll out so you have to respect that

Great fight. Really impressed how Kovalev responded after nearly getting blasted out in that one round.

              Hell no,

              Buddy might have
Overreacted but his approach changed Kovalev for the better

Kovalec is done, slow, no power, no hunger(till he was hurt), trainer sucks (jab jab jab", how about some power shots buddy?) The fight changed completely when kovalev started to actually fight instead of jab jab jabbing.

If Kovalev took THAT type of punishment in round 9 again? Then the fight probably should be stopped. I mean he may have been only two more punches from being put out for good in the 8th round.

Yeah I think so. Kovalev's only shot to beat Canelo is by KO, and Canelo's too sharp, too good to let that happen.

I think Canelo UDs Kovalev if he doesn't stop him

Great effort by both men, both posing questions to the other but in the end I guess Yarde didn't have enough answers. Not enough sparring done I think, with some better stamina he might have been able to come on and finish off Kovalev in the 9th. Kovalev meanwhile showing vulnerability but this reinvention of himself as a jab artist has breathed new life into his career. If he does fight Canelo, I don't see how Canelo is going to handle it - he struggled with Golovkin's jab and Kovalev's is longer and faster.
