The reason people accuse him of ducking is the $8 million. Floyd specifically said it was all about the money, and then turned down more money than he's ever made in guaranteed money. That is not a shrewd business move in my eyes.
Clearly Floyd is avoiding Tony right now. No one can dispute that. Now, will Floyd fight Tony later? Very possible. If Floyd takes the course of action you just mentioned then that is fine with me, but it will still have to be said that he ducked Tony for a while to take other fights he saw as more rewarding.
Business decision, 'ducking'...whatever you want to call it.
I see your point. My opinion is this is just a simple business decision. I mean if 8 million is on the table now, why would it be any different in 12 months. If anything both Floyd and Margarito will be more recognizable so it is not inconceivable that it could be worth more money. And right now, the best business move is to become the welterweight champ of the world. That makes his future moves more valuable... a fight against both Shane and/or Margarito would be for the undisputed title. Plus Floyd is trying to increase his exposure to the fringe fan and Margarito can't help him (neither can Baldomir but again that makes Floyd "the man" at 147).
That's a good way to get me to not take you seriously at all. my favorite fighter is Roy Jones. Take a look at my huge sig and you'll see there are black fighters there.
Mayorga beat Forrest to get his titles, and did so twice. Many people felt he was jobbed vs Spinks. Spinks is a good fighter but it's not some great accomplishment to beat him.
Ok, I take it back, u like black fighters. But I cant understand why u knocking Zab and Cory so much when they have accomplished so much more than a man who you are bigging up. And Roy Jones is your favorite fighter and your biased against Floyd, thats a good way for me not take u serious. Roy is great, I've never seen someone like him before, but Floyd aint never fought cops and trash men. Hell margarito aint even fought cops and trash men. Again I love Roy, but dude, u really being unfair when it comes to Floyd.
Yep, it's very possible it could be bigger later. Just hope Arum isn't upset about Floyd turning down Tony leading him to not offer $8 million in a year's time. But I know Tony would fight Floyd for a relatively low purse if he had to.
Really, Floyd just needs to speak the hell up and tell us what his next move is.

I totally agree I want to know what is going on too. Also something to think about is that neither Mayweather nor Margarito may be with Arum in 12 months. Margarito's contract is about to expire and it doesn't look like he will get the big fight he wants so maybe he leaves Arum too.

A couple issues: Roy fought everyone at 175. It was just a weak division. That said, I never claimed I was completely happy with who Roy faced. But Floyd is at 147 and like Roy, needs to fight all comers at that weight (at some point).
Zab and Cory do not pose as big as threat to Floyd as Marg does due to styles. I've seen Floyd vs many styles and Tony's is the one that will probably give him the most trouble (like Castillo).
It's not unfair to expect Floyd to fight Margarito sometime soon. He is a top 5 guy anyway (at 147) and that should be good enough. Floyd needs to step up again in his next fight, and I'm not saying it absolutely has to be vs Marg, although it would be preferable to me.

See now there is a post that I might not totally agree with but I can totally respect. No extreme hyperbole or insults.

Ok, I can see that, that's feasible. The only thing I disagree with is that Margarito is no Castillo and doesnt have his style. If Margarito did have Castillo style though, the head movement, crisp sneaky punches, a nice jab, and nice lateral movement to go along with his size and power i would say he had a chance to beat Floyd. Margarito is a top 5 guy, but I want to see him make himself atleast the clear cut #2 guy before trying to pressure and accuse someone of being scared of him and avoiding him. margarito please beat somebody of some significance first, thats what I want.
Marg has a chance anyway, and Castillo was never a lateral mover. VS Floyd he did the kind of things that Marg would try to do. Work the body and throws lots of hard shots. Margarito also throws shots from odd angles and from every angle, another plus for him.
Marg can't be number 2 because Floyd already is, behind Baldomir. But most people see Marg as the 3rd guy in the division and that should be good enough...maybe not for a fight right now, but at the same time Floyd should not be allowed to fight any more guys like Sharmba Mitchell in place of Margarito.

You hit the nail on the head. The only reason I justify Mitchell is because that was Floyd's first fight at 147. 7 pounds doesn't seem like a lot but it is at that weight. On the other hand no more excuses like that (at least for 147).
