Margarito has been a beltholder for years but his comp has been mediocre at best. No one considered him to be any sort of force at Welterweight until Mayweather moved up to fight Judah and Arum started this very clever media campaign to promote a fighter that he had been neglecting. If anyone is to blame for Margarito's lack of exposure it's his promoter, not the entire division that's supposedly ducking him.



Even if we take the offer at face value (which is ridiculous considering the fact that Arum is one of the biggest snakes in boxing and Margarito and Mayweather don't have the combined fan support to produce that kind of revenue) Baldomir is the recognized champion at 147. The Undisputed title at Welterweight is a hell of a lot bigger than anything that Margarito brings to the table.




Utter NONSENSE. Zab Judah was THE Undisputed Champion at 147 when Baldomir beat him. That victory led to Baldo's current status as the recognized titlist in the division. The win over Judah dwarfs anything that Margarito has even thought about accomplishing in his career. Cintron was a prospect and Lewis had already been exposed when Margarito fought them.

1) Margarito was respected by insiders as a threatening figure before Judah ever did anything significant at 147. For a time Tony was even number one at 147 by the premier authority on boxing ranking...RING.

2) You say the offer is ridiculous, but you have nothing to back it up. Floyd never accepted the offer so we have no reason to think Arum would have backed out of it.

3) A win over an unfocused fighter who never could maintain himself does not 'dwarf' Margarito's cause. Judah himself ha dbeen exposed by Zoo and Spinks if Lewis had been exposed. Cintron as a 'prospect' was a solid bet to most people to get a KO over Tony, and that 'prospect' would handily defeat the version of Gatti that Baldy beat.

Basically, what I said still stands. Lewis + Cintron = Gatti + Judah. This is based on the skill level of the fighters, not what championship status they had. Even if you can make the argument that Judah was somewhat better than Lewis, you cannot make the argument to me that Gatti is better than Cintron. The dude is more war-torn than Sarajevo.

Charlie, you totally missed my point. You said that Winky Wright was a middleweight, and you used it in relation to size. As I said, and you agreed, 154 is Winky's true home, and he can easily fight at that weight. Margarito can also fight at 154 and that was where the initial offer to fight was....my point was, now that the fight isn't happening, people could say that Margarito is afraid of Winky- because he turned down his intial offer. I was trying to make the point that Winky Wright is not afraid of Margarito, and it doesn't seem that Margarito is afraid of Wright, so the fight is not happening solely because of financial reasons; though people can always paint a different picture. Just as you are against Mayweather. It's all about the money. Wait and see how much he makes for his next fight. If it's less than 8 million, yes, I will agree with you he decided not to fight Antonio for some reason OTHER than the purse size.

Floyd hasn't done **** at Welterweight..not that Margarito has...but everyone on here can agree that Floyd shone bright at lightweight and super featherweight. Margarito's size is one of the biggest factors that would help him. He is a bigger man that Floyd. One man has only fought below 147, and only a few fights at it (Mayweather) and Margarito has fought almost every fight at Welter, and a few at 154 (like the Santos fight). Saying there is no size difference between Floyd and Margarito is ******...I was making the size comparison you yourself made between Margarito and Winky.
