Kovalev was another option behind dervey and Munguia. A 36 yr old who is 3-3 in his last 6, kod twice in that time and is about to fight a tough opponent this month, yet Canelo would like to face him on a short turnaround in just a few months. #chasinggreatness lmaooo

I "hate" on gggs resume but of course he should deserve respect for facing Deryevchenko because its at least for a belt & a belt that he vacated after yrs of claiming "he never would because he respects boxing & his responsibilities because hes no businessman",

but even though GG deserves respect for facing Deryevchenko he deserves nowhere near the amount he would if he chose to face Andrade/Charlo/or a smw & above champ, especially if Canelo fights Kovalev or Andrade/Charlo or Smw full champs, Its a solid win & it would technically fulfill the requirements Canelo told him to earn another rematch.(& if he doesn't need to earn a rematch neither does Jacobs need to with him.)

I hope he does at least face Deryevchenko though & hopefully he signs up to vada 365,it would surely lead to another rematch imho because his scalp wouldn't be that of someone who Canelo wouldn't get credit for like it currently is.

GGG didn't vacate the IBF belt. He fought a voluntary without giving an undertaking to sign to fight his mando within 30 days. So the IBF refused to sanction the voluntary and stripped him for taking part in an unsanctioned fight in the same division he held their title in.

Bro, a fighter deserves what he can negotiate. I personally hate how much focus fans put on purses these days. Literally it has become like the number two topic on this website and it’s sickening. There are so many components to boxing and yet people here spend 80% of their time talking about boxers paychecks. I blame manny and Floyd for this Shhht. A-side and B-side as far as I’m concerned is the first and second side of a cassette tape or single release..don’t care about it from a boxing fan perspective. GGG said he would go up for Froch but not Ward. As for Froch he was signed to fight someone else but wanted the fight in other videos.

Froch was the money man and the A-side. GGG needed to meet him at his weight to get that career high payday and big time fight. Ward was incredibly inactive and when he did fight he headlined a BET show and killed boxing on that channel forever with its low ratings.

Ward could have stayed at 168 if he really wanted to push the issue. There was plenty of credible opposition there. But he chose to bet on himself and move up to fight Kovalev. Good on him.
