Should Canelo Buy Out Of His Golden Boy Contract

With the current situation with Oscar promising DAZN a third fight with GGG without Canelo's approval is it time for Canelo to walk from Golden Boy?

I’ve been saying canelo does not need GBP anymore for a while now, this just puts the icing on the cake. The current series of events that have come to light are a perfect reason for canelo to leave GBP and no one would blame him. Another thing to think about is this, what about the things that’s happen behind the scenes that the public is unaware of? If it’s bad the public finds out, but the worst of the worst usually gets shoved under the carpet and usually only those involved know what the real deal is... canelo should leave GBP as soon as he can.

There needs to be a "totally indifferent" option

Can he even get out of his contract? he just re-signed and extended the amount of fights and years to his Golden Boy contract last year. How much would that cost him if he could buy out and is wasting that amount to get out worth it? Too many factors and nobody knows what the real story going on is. And if you do get out your Golden Boy contract but you are still under your DAZN contract then what difference does it even make.

I would assume there is always the ability to buy out of your deal. And Canelo should have the money to do it. Its just a matter of how to go about it.

I mean how much is Golden Boy making off of Canelo per fight? If its $2M per fight on average then however many fights on contract he has times $2M = the starting ground for buy out talks I'd guess.

Seems like more of a Yes/No situation to me doe. If you care about it or not fair play on being indifferent, but for Canelo & the rest of his non-promotional team its a Yes/No situation.

Canelo is acting like a disgrace right now. Doing anything in his power to not fight GGG. Acts totally inept with the IBF when they gave him every chance to extend the deadline and then crows when he gets stripped.

It should be Canelo for 9/14 but he's just acting like a spoiled little kid taking his ball home when he doesn't get his way.

He just signed for 360M and he's acting like the world is against him or like he's some how not getting a fair shake. Just stfu and fight. And fight GGG for the health of DAZN which is writing your checks. Seems like a no brainer but apparently not.

It was reported at the time he signed with DAZN he also signed an extension with Golden Boy for the same amount of fights to mirror the DAZN deal plus an additional 4 fights after he out lives the DAZN 11 fights deal. So at the time last year that means he owes 15 fights to Golden Boy.

If the buy out is like you say 2M per fight and he still has 13 more left that's a lot of money just to buy out and if you still under contract with DAZN is that really worth it?
