De La Hoya: Canelo Will KO GGG In Trilogy
While it is Daniel Jacobs up next for his fighter, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed that a fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will happen, and that Alvarez won’t need the judges.
“There’s no doubt whatsoever,” De La Hoya said of a trilogy between the two middleweights.
“Canelo wants to fight the very best, and I can assure you that, third time around, Canelo will knock him out.”

ODLH: “I sent out a tweet that said we were going to talk to GGG and make the third fight happen and Jacobs’ promoter, Matchroom Boxing, called [Golden Boy president] Eric Gomez the next day and said you have a fight with Jacobs.
“My plan worked – now we have one of the best middleweights fights in recent years.”

And if you do get out your Golden Boy contract but you are still under your DAZN contract then what difference does it even make.
I think that by buying out or the golden boy contract, that would force DAZN and canelo to work on a separate new contract between themselves without Golden Boy Promotions

If the buy out is like you say 2M per fight and he still has 13 more left that's a lot of money just to buy out and if you still under contract with DAZN is that really worth it?
If Oscar is f#cking up his sh^t I think its a bargain.

I highly doubt he gots 13 fights/6 years on his Golden Boy deal. I think the MAA doesn't allow such long promotional deals. I don't doubt there are "if this then that" type extentions to the deal, but I'm sure those are only obstacles & not hard stops with getting out of this contract.

And I mean just like with the Ruiz vs Joshua rematch stuff Canelo has leverage since he is the fighter & he can sabotage Golden Boy or himself into forcing Golden Boy to talk deal. Or I would think thats possible. I mean who do you think people are a fan of Canelo or Oscar?

Why would DAZN do that if they already have a contract in place? lol If you are telling me that a buy out would make him a complete promoter and network free agent that's 1 thing. But if he's already tied legally to a network what is the point if he can even buy out wasting all those millions when he is still on DAZN under the original contract.

Oscar lied to him and made a deal behind his back he told Oscar not to do. That is reason enough to fire Oscar. I just have this feeling Canelo is slowing down and won't be around in a few years. Oscar comes in handy for getting him fights and paying off Vegas judges. Canelo has a sweet deal with DAZN and GoldenBoy. Can he do 35 million a fight or anything close to that someplace else on his own? I doubt it. Sure he made huge money twice with GGG but he won't fight him. So who is Canelo going to fight on his own that makes him even close to 35 million a fight. Oscar is a greedy lying snake but it is in his best interest to take care of Canelo. I think Canelo should stay exactly where he is at and keep a close watch on Oscar. I don't think he can do as well on his own.

Yea I think if Canelo were to go the buy out route he'd wanna be talking to DAZN before that to insure he could get a new deal or continue forward on the current agreement minus the Golden Boy specific parts of that deal.

He would also need to start his own promotion or find someone he could work with on a fight by fight basis.

From my understanding Canelo & DAZN don't really have a deal is the thing. DAZN & Golden Boy have a deal for Canelo's promotional rights which Golden Boy owns.

Its semantics in some way, but its how it is.

Thus if Canelo bought out of his deal with Golden Boy that would mean DAZN would need to deal directly with Canelo.

And if Canelo went this route I'm sure he'd walk hand in hand with DAZN in getting out of his Golden Boy deal & he may even do it to the tune of DAZN buying him out of the deal & Canelo paying back DAZN in payments or in one lump sum with his next fight or some other way like that if hes not got the money on hand or only part of the money needed to buy out of his deal.

That would be option 1 if it was available. I just don't think a boxer can fire his promoter that he has a contract with.

Its possible there could be language in the contract that could void it, but I tend to think most boxers are too lax about that sorta sh^t even when they are on the level of Canelo. And typically the ending of the contract type language is more promoter friendly.

So who is Canelo going to fight on his own that makes him even close to 35 million a fight.
From how its being discussed in an article I read & posted here the other day it seems like Canelo isn't even getting $35M per fight. It sounds like that $35M per fight is for the whole card. Obviously Canelo is getting the bulk of that money, but this merely means that a DAZN & Canelo deal wouldn't need to be for $35M per fight to equal the current deal. Maybe $29M per fight directly to Canelo would beat the current deal & if DAZN is willing to pay this much for Canelo with Golden Boy idk why they wouldn't be willing to pay similar or perhaps even less for the same Canelo they value so much without Golden Boy.
