Tarver wasn't following his instructions in the Hopkins fight also.
Tarver was mentally broken down once he couldn't find a way to throw his left hand and began to start headhunting. McGirt tried to get him comfortable in there by telling him forget about the head and hit what he can, but Tarver wouldn't listen.

Tarver, Gatti, Brewster...(I didn't see Julio fight) all 3 fights McGirt told them everytime they came to the corner to stop headhunting and go to the body... But all 3 fighters did nothing but look for headshots and paid for it... Brewster could have finished Sergei if he went to the body more... Tarver really had no chance but could have stopped getting hit so easily if he ducked and hit to the body... Gatti didn't hardly hit Baldy at all to the body, I bet it would have been a completly different fight if Gatti slowed Baldy down early with punishing body shots.

All in all his fighters just were headhunters this year and didn't listen to McGirt... If you don't believe me then watch the fights again and listen for the famous "Your not going to the body enough...".

Didn't see this post before I posted but great observation... His fighters just aren't listening to him.

No adjustements were made by Tarver.
But McGirt was throwing ideas out there.

I too noticed that his fighters have been ****ting it up lately. I wonder if he has too much on his plate.

i really think he set brewster back with his new approach, the other guys you can all make the case they were headcases (tarver) inexperienced (julio) or shot (gatti)

And Jim McMahon, because when he was a kid he was doing summersaults with a lightbulb in his mouth it broke. It went into his eyes and made them sensitive. Oh yeah, and Chuck Norris, if he wants.

What I hate about McGirt and alot of trainers today is not only do they instruct fighters to fight like *******, but they try to change everybody into the same mold, Regardless of the fighters makeup.
