Buddy McGirt, Worse Trainer of the Year?

What you think? He's on a downward spiral with his fighters.

i was about to start this thead last night

mcgirt is defiantely having the worst year of any trainer.

brewster, julio, gatti all got completely owned.

it occurred to me in all those cases that the advice mcgirt was giving was terrible and counterproductive for his fighters.

mcgirt is the top trainer in the world in one aspect that nobody can dispute, throwing in the towel on his fighters.

its getting to be mcgirts signature line to say to his fighter "i cant let you take this kinda punishment, im gonna stop the fight"

Yeah let's not forget about that. You don't need a knockout, you don't need to go for broke, your only losing every round.

On a similar note, would it be mainly his advice during the fights that suck? Or does his preparations with the fighters at the gym suck?

How about his fighters are just facing really good opponents?

Buddy McGirt is an excellent trainer. Even Freddie Roach or Emmanuel Steward's best fighters lose every now and then.

its mcgirts job to prepare his fighters for their specific opponent and to devise plans to beat fighters of differing styles. that he has not been able to do for any of his guys, maybe is he focused on guys more instead of trying to be "mr- bad- ass- big -pimpin- gold- plated -sunglasses" on HBO every three weeks he could get more out of them.
