What do you think about all this ? My point was that if he makes it or not I don't care but I do think he will make it SOME DAY.I'm not trying to make Gatti look better then he was because in truth he was never on that top level and nothing can change that.The thing is that there is a very sad lack of respect for a true boxing warrior being shown here. No he was not Da La Hoya or Floyd but he showed more heart gave more of himself then both of them togeather. How many fighters today are trashed for "running" in a fight well Gatti as far as I recall always took pain and came back asking for more. He could have "ran" in that last fight he could have "ran" in any of them but he did what a fighter should do he fought untill he could take no more . If he is a HOF fighter or not does not matter but he should always be respected if not by other fighters then the fans because who else of this era has gave so much of them self every fight, I can think of none .

Good post. I have never considered Gatti a HOF fighter but that is not because I consider him a bum or because I don't have respect for him. If he gets into the HOF I wouldn't be upset either. Simply, he deserves to be praised for what he did do rather than be criticized for what he didn't do. He wasn't a flashy boxer like Sugar Ray Leonard, but he never avoided a challenge and he never gave up. Similar to Vargas I think people should remember their careers fondly for the accomplishments they had rather than where they fell short.

But you have to admit that EVEN IN HIS PRIME, Gatti was getting dusted by second-rate fighters. Take Angel Manfredy , for example. Angel smoked Gatti. But when Angel got into the ring with Mayweather, Johnston, Corrales and Spadafora, Angel went 0 for 4. And BOTH mayweather and corrales blew out manfredy. That tells you that Angel wasn't an "A" fighter. He was a solid gatekeeper, though.

But he was clearly better than Gatti.

When Gatti was getting his ass handed to him by Mayweather, Gatti NEVER went into survival mode. He tried his damnest to fight back. In all the fights I've seen of his, Gatti has never gone into survival mode where he conceded that he would not win and try to just make out of the fight on his feet. He always preferred to be carried out on his shield.

He may not deserve to be a HOFamer but I think he will be voted in.

At least Gatti fights, like fighters did in the old days, he entertains. If some of these guys that are so called great fighters now adays stepped back in time they'd probably lose their boxing liscenses for being so boring and driving people away. Plus alot of these guys today dont possess the toughness and mentality to hang with the great fighters from the past. Too many fights today look like ****ing glorified sparring sessions.
