Before people sh#t on anyone quoting Hearn's tweet, keep in mind the other side, it's literally unnamed sources.

In regards to UKAD notifying the athelete and promoter and not the opponent, I would have assumed that is with the understanding that the fight would obviously be off, it just makes no sense they would allow a fight to continue makes no sense at all.

Perhaps it’s substance specific

There are plenty of banned substances not related to performance enhancement. I would guess that would be the only reason they would act this way

Or perhaps, he was found with a banned substance in his system, but was below a threshold?

En route to a London press conference 24-year-old Whyte received a phone call from UK Anti Doping (UKAD). Traces of a banned substance officially named methylhexaneamine (DMAA) were found in recent samples given by the heavyweight fighter.
Following a number of telephone conversations with a UKAD official, the British Boxing Board of Control and promoter Frank Maloney a decision not to appear at the press conference for the English heavyweight title against John Mcdermott was made. Whyte's team have claimed it was from a pre-workout drink which Whyte used in the lead up to his last bout, unaware that the product had been banned from retail outlets in the UK only weeks before.
Whyte and his team have committed to co-operate fully with the UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control in the coming weeks.

What did I make up lmao the guy popped dirty way before his fight with Mcdermott was to take place not 3 days before the fight took place..... The investigation would of took place while he was in camp for the Mcdermott fight so his handlers and bbbc agreed to cancel fight and let the process play out you posted exactly what I posted and skipped over ukad letting Molina fight after failing a test pending his investigation..... I don’t know why you trying defend something that needs no defending when it’s on ukad/bbbc site how they go about a positive test.... If a fighter or his team wants to cancel a fight pending investigation they can or they also have option of going ahead with scheduled fight while b sample is tested and other procedural steps are taken

This failed test happen with just 3 days left before ppv you really think Hearn was going cancel the whole card being as though none of the other fights scheduled could justify still carrying on with it on ppv as main event? UKAD/BBBC allows fighters to fight pending investigation being complete it says so on they testing site..... THE FURYS FAKED DEPRESSION/SKIN DISORDER WHY THEY DIDNT FIGHT WHILE INVESTIGATION TOOK PLACE AND UKAD JUST WASHED THEY HANDS WITH IT AND BACKDATED SUSPENSION

The two situations differ in that, based on the final decision report following his appeal, when UKAD called Whyte it was to notify him that they had concluded he'd committed an offense and would be suspended effective the day after his last fight (post fight positive test). That was almost a month after the test and he appealed in January.

I read in the Telegraph that Whyte immediately asked that his B sample be tested. If the protocol is that the results don't become punishable until the athlete admits wrong doing or the B sample is tested, then it explains some of why things unfolded the way they did.

The glove issue adds another layer to this story as well.
