What can be done to prevent more tragic boxing deaths like Maxim Dadashev's?

Very depressing. I just can't imagine the pain his family must be going through. Really makes you think about a lot of things.Comment

I think the first step is investigating the event well to identify what were the contributing factors, aside from the obvious sporting event, that enabled the tragedy. After this athletic commissions need to mitigate these factors and risks more and in a more effective way.Comment

Yes, makes one appreciate being alive and also question making some changes in boxing to better prevent this.
Like I wrote if he could not swallow from early round, trainers, ref need to be educated that that's a sign of neurological impairment and calls for stoppage and rush to hospital.
If stopped then, likely he had a much more minor bleed/swelling that he might have fully recovered from.Comment

This poor guy is gonna be a case study
I would be surprised if anything actually changes in this sport sadlyComment

The only thing I can think of is 10 round maximum.
It seems like most of the recent serious hospital incidents and deaths have happened in the "championship" rounds. Buddy called the fight off in the 11th. Stevenson got KO'd in the 11th.
What's the point of going 12? If it could go down from 15 to 12, it can go down from 12 to 10.
Devastating early KO's don't seem to lead to fatality. It's accumulated punches. Both this case and Stevenson, the fighter was still alert at the end, but collapsed later.
Having an ambulance at the event, and a quick route to a nearby emergency hospital should be mandatory. I'm sure all venues have a doctor around to administer oxygen and other emergency measures before the ambulance.Comment

How about not trying to make him walk back to the damn Locker Room on his own Power...

This was ******! A huge Lawsuit is coming, it was Negligence all over the place after that fight was stopped.
Where was the Doctor? Oxygen? EMT to take him to the Hospital Immediate? Look at how Adonis Stevenson was handled after Gvozdyk fight compared to Dadashev

They moved quickly with Stevenson and it likely saved his LifeLast edited by sicko; 07-23-2019, 03:52 PM.Comment

To ban proffesional boxing is the only thing that could be done really.
How do you want to prevent deaths in the "sport" where the goal is hitting the other person in the head repeatedly until he/she loses consiousness?
Olympic boxing is the only relatively safe form of boxing.Comment

He didn't look so bad, he was fighting back, he just looked fatigue and the shots landing on him seem to affect him, Buddy stops the fights when he sees no point of continuing, he didn't look good when Buddy was questioning him and thats when I felt they should stop it, him walking out of the ring just made it really sad he fought his heart out, I knew he was really bad at that point more than just fatigueComment

There isnt anything we can do to make the sport safer unfortunately.
Either ban the sport or just continue as is.
Somebody mentioned how championship fights should be downgraded to 2 minutes of 10 rounds. Why not just have them wear 30oz pillow gloves and football helmet while you are at it. What about no punches to the face?
Boxing is a modern day gladiator sport and it’s always been brutal. Im sorry that a fighter died but that dont mean we gotta change the sport and sht.
Trainers and officials have to be more observant, that’s all they can do.Comment
