It is curious.
Judging by Adam Smith’s interview, both are trying to compromise on a time and date for the fight, and possibly have the main event at 2am in the UK if it’s in the UK, which would be better time for DAZN viewers.
The hold up is nothing to do with Ruiz. He’ll fight when they tell him.

Since it was not in writing then it becomes negotiable. While true, Ruiz owes Joshua a rematch yet at the same time he doesn't owe him a venue.
That's why the talks are currently being stalled and delayed.

Having said that, I don’t get why Team Joshua are running back to the UK. So if they win the rematch they aren’t going to leave the UK again? That’s some mental negative right there.

Something tells me the rematch probably won’t happen. I don’t believe Ruiz and his camp should agree to fighting in the UK as the current champion unless there is a substantial amount of more money involved than MSG or another US venue. What about Jerry Jones World at Texas stadium? A lot of the Mexican and Hispanic nation would come out to support that fight. If they push the date back to December 21st, that venue is available because the Dallas Cowboys are playing away at Philadelphia on December 22nd.
But I know the UK stadium that Hearn mentioned has a seating capacity of 74,500 and Jerry World seats 65,675. MSG only seats 20,789. I guess that’s the tough part about it. The US stadiums that are in partnership to host boxing events aren’t built with the largest seat capacities in the world. If the US college football stadiums got into the mix of boxing, that would be huge for boxing. Like the Michigan stadium that seats over 110,000, 2nd largest stadium in the world or Penn State the seats the 3rd largest.
The fight will take place in Cardiff

I do think Ruiz has some leverage here. Maybe his side see a loophole. None of us know the language in the contract so it’s all speculation right now.

In the same video this article talks about Hearn says the choice is up to AJ & he goes on to say AJ wants it back at MSG. Then he said other locations have phoned him this week about staging the fight. Which is something I highly doubt because legitimate offers for a fight of this magnitude would've been sent in weeks ago. And every week he's saying the announcement is coming. If Ruiz has no say as you all claim then this fight would've already had a venue and date. Starting to sound like the same people who kept telling me Canelo is fighting GGG in September and Canelo has no sayforget about the venue and date, the rematch would happen when Team Joshua says so. No one from Team Joshua has claimed an announcement is coming thus far, the only thing they have done is exercise the rematch clause.
The guy who won has no say in a lot of the things that is going to happen, winning the first fight doesn’t mean Team ruiz calls the shot, there is a reason Team whyte turned down the Joshua fight, they had zero control of the rematch, so I doubt Team Ruiz has any too.
Again they just had the fight on June 1, venues and date doesn’t turn up just like that, it takes a lot of work to put that in..

The first fight Andy Ruiz, fought on Eddie Hearn's and Matchroom Sport's terms. He accepted all of their conditions; Including opponent, location, venue and date.
He even accepted short money on a short notice fight. Eddie Hearn has to realize that Anthony Joshua is no longer the champion but Andy Ruiz is. Therefore, he has the right to fight where he damn well pleases.
So it's time for Team Joshua to start respecting and accepting Ruiz' terms as the new champion. Matchroom Sport needs to be reminded that Andy Ruiz doesn't need them. They need him in order to get those belts back.
By the time this dispute is over, chances are all of the title belts will be vacated or stripped. Then Joshua may never see those titles again anyhow.
