Brave, good guy. I liked that line in his last post:
"Be kind to one another you never know what stranger you may meet who has something to do with who you are or who you might be in a short amount of time."
He knew what was coming and responded with a message of peace and good will.
Roger Ebert wrote: "There's nothing like impending death to rouse you from existential boredom." And he urged good will: "To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out."
David Letterman broached the subject of impending death to Warren Zevon. Warren was already living on borrowed time and knew it. Warren thought a moment and said, "Enjoy every sandwich."
I'd like to think Ray enjoyed every boxing match. He also enjoyed reading and writing the posts at BoxingScene.
