He was caught between a rock and a hard place because DAZN only offered him two options; Either Golovkin or Kovalev. Which means he couldn't have become the undisputed Middleweight champion of the World against Demetrius Andrade who currently holds the WBO Middleweight title either because it was fight they didn't want as well.

Kovalev or GGG were the two fights DAZN liked the best but Canelo could have fought Derv, Jermall,Andrade or Bivol and DAZN would not have stopped the fight. Canelo chose not to fight in September and made no offers to fight any of these boxers who called him out. I have read on this forum many times that Canelo is the boss and can fight anyone he wants anytime he wants. I don't believe that but that is what many Canelo fans say.

Canelo was never going to fight Dervy and you know it so don't make it DAZN's fault that Canelo is giving up his belt without fighting for it. Team Canelo never wanted to fight Dervy. They never said his name or ask for the fight. The middleweights you said GGG should fight, Jermall, Andrade and Dervy are all guys Canelo is never going to fight by choice not because of DAZN.

"I spoke with Eric Gomez and [Golden Boy matchmaker] Robert Diaz and they asked if Demetrius would be available to fight Canelo in September," Hearn told ESPN on Wednesday. "The answer is a big yes and although I don't think we are first choice, it's the undisputed fight and one Demetrius would be 100 percent ready for. We will see what happens over the next few days."

Gomez acknowledged the discussion with Hearn but said Alvarez also has other options.

It seems pretty clear from those statements that it was Canelo's team who decided not to pursue a unification fight with Andrade.

Less than 2 weeks ago, Eddie Hearn believed that the fight was a real possibility. Given Eddie's position with DAZN, and the fact that he is Andrade's promototer, does anybody seriously believe that Hearn would have needed to wait for Gomez to ask DAZN's approval, in order to find out that it wasn't going to be given?

You need to post some evidence that approval for other fights was even asked for, and that DAZN will block Canelo from fulfilling mandatory obligations when the time comes.
