Dammmit. I knew I should’ve called out Early instead of Mid.

Not a fluke exactly I think - just Ryota absolutely wasn't expecting or prepared for what he was facing first time round, I think Murata's a very fine technician but I'm not sure he's got the adaptability and capacity to adjust on the fly that characterises the real elite dudes.

Interesting how both Brant and now Murata came just shy of established records, via total punches and power punches in a single round respectively, in these two fights. Full credit to Murata here.
I looked down at the clock at 1 minute in the first round and couldn't believe only 2 minutes had gone by...they packed a half/whole fight into 2 minutes lol...incredible pace especially at MW...Murata had a better gameplan here/executed it better imo...used Brant's activity against him.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a 3rd fight to settle the score...to see if Brant can adapt at all...seeing Murata against someone else would be cool too though...at 33 he has to get a move on

This is why you can't count Joshua out even though he got dominated in the first fight. Brant was calling out the big names after ONE big win.

After Brant's insane work rate in the first outing and in the first defense against Baysangurov I was expecting more of the same here, and round 1 seemed to validate that expectation with the difference of a welcomely more aggressive Murata...and then the next round happened.

My world's kind of upside down right now...I didn't rank either guy with the elite at 160, but I was pretty secure in the idea that Brant had proven superior and more worthy of that next ladder rung in opposition than Murata. Now? Definitely not writing off Brant but my interest in a GGG-Murata is definitely rekindled...and I could go for a trilogy here too.

brant became 1 full round as a punching bag...

Damn, I always thought Murata was good but I thought Brants volume and movement were just a horrible style matchup for him - figured it was like his Kryptonite. Didn't see him making the adjustment like that at all. Dude's thrown himself right back in the mix now though.

I thought he was better than that effort against Brant.

He was a TON better. Nice win for an exciting fighter. Hope he realizes he better be better on non-Home field turf if he wants the big dawgs, though. Unlikely they are coming to Japan. But right now he has to feel good about himself.
