HBO really knew how to put on a show. Seeing these other services stumble their way through broadcasts, you realize how effortless HBO made it look. They were the Mayweather of broadcasters. We complained about them but now that they're gone you look back and realize, "Damn, they really knew what the *** they were doing and nobody else was really close."
I Miss HBO

I muted the commentary on HBO lots of times.
I liked Roy Jones, sometimes he seemed like he was the only one watching the fight. Lampley and Kellerman always seem to talk too much and miss what was happening in the fight. I'd love it when they'd be talking some BS and all of a sudden Roy would break in with,"Oooh that was a great body shot".
That said, DAZN needs a total makeover, especially their broadcast team. Kenny's OK but Todd and Mora should look for some other line of work.Comment

Yeah no Network was better at build up STARS than HBO and DAZN, PBC/FOX/Showtime, Top Rank/ESPN will never be able to match or duplicate their incredible history and contribution to the sport
I just wanted Jim Lampley to go away, not for the entire Network to walk away from boxing. Looking at boxing ratings from ESPN and Showtime...Peter Nelson and HBO made the right call, they got out of the boxing business at the right time and probably have ZERO Regrets. Fighters asking for A LOT of money regardless if they're a Draw or Not and DAZN is giving guys a lot of damn Money so it was no way HBO would be able to compete with that so they bowed out gracefullyLast edited by sicko; 07-02-2019, 06:40 PM.Comment

The HBO boxing writers/back room knew how to garner interest of aspiring young boxers. Utilizing percussion sounds mixed in with visuals of key moments of combat only a fighter would deem important is how they did it. And they'd use real fighters for some of these moments. Roy throwing a cross was one of them, Gatti doing a shuffle was another. On Showtime, when they'd show upcoming fights, they'd have a corridor in the background with Hatton shadowboxing in slo-mo. So, at least Showtime/Shobox? is still in the picture, mega props to them for that. We have that to be thankful for.HBO really knew how to put on a show.
