Not much credit. The outcome was no surprise. Thing that bothered me was I didn't see any changes in Golovkin's style.

I can give him credit for being one of the biggest punchers in the division and staying in great shape. As for Rolls, we know this win is pretty insignificant.

Mind you, Rollls was undefeated coming into this fight.
You just started another thread about Sugar Ray Robinson... asking "how was he?"...

.. well... he was like "nobody"...

Is this a trick question? Nobody even knew who Rolls were. He was an unknown. He was cherrypicked by GGG for a reason. So Gennady gets no credit for this win because he did what he was brought in to do against an overmatched and limited opponent.

as far as opponent selection, I give zero credit. No offense to Rolls, but there are levels to this ish.

Where I do give LIMITED credit is for Golovkin, at 37 years old, and a multi-millionaire, having the discipline to conduct a solid camp, and prepare for the fight. That was one of the most amazing things to me about Mayweather. No matter how much money he had, he always had the discipline to stay in shape, train, and prepare for the next fight. That has to be VERY difficult to do when you have millions and millions of dollars.

And before anyone starts having a spaz attack, no I'm not comparing GGG to Mayweather.

I think this fight was supposed to go just like it went. So idk that I can give GGG any credit for doing what he was supposed to do.

These types of fights are no win situations for boxers. You can either do what you're supposed to do & gain no points or lose or look bad & drop some points.

People usually justify these type of fights by saying the guy is a young hungry lion. Rolls is 35 and hasn’t fought anybody lol.
