Where I do give LIMITED credit is for Golovkin, at 37 years old, and a multi-millionaire, having the discipline to conduct a solid camp, and prepare for the fight. That was one of the most amazing things to me about Mayweather. No matter how much money he had, he always had the discipline to stay in shape, train, and prepare for the next fight. That has to be VERY difficult to do when you have millions and millions of dollars.

And before anyone starts having a spaz attack, no I'm not comparing GGG to Mayweather.
I always think about that. If I am sitting on 10 million or more. Why would I want to get punched in the head when I can invest and earn much more safely?

How do you give credit for the worst cherry pick by a P4P fighter of all time. P4P fighters shouldn't be picking guys ranked #81 in the world.

actually, I understand the "fight" part of it. Its in their blood. Its the training camp that must really be tough. The running, the dieting, etc etc. VERY tough to do when you have $50 million or more in the bank........

          ZERO!

GGG knows father time is creeping up on him that is why he is looking for a straight line to Canelo to avoid an upset and not getting his 3rd fight and final Cash Out with Canelo

The man is 37 years old the end is very near

Makes sense. Some brutal run in scorching heat while being hungry and tired.
Them silk sheets would look good to me.

I don't get the suggestion of criticism here. I don't mind comeback fights. They're a part of the overall mix. Full credit to Golovkin. He wants Canelo again -- by far the most meaningful and accomplished opponent available in his weight range. A third fight, at age 37 or 38.

Originally I thought Golovkin was making an easy contract to pad his retirement against also-rans, but he is calling for Canelo and I respect that.

I give him little chance of beating Canelo at this point, and didn't spy the slightest hint of the "new skills" his new trainer is focusing on. I'm not buying any of that.

                None...

To me this was mostly just a fight for Golovkin to work on some things with his new trainer and maybe see what type of chemistry they have in the corner during an actual fight. I didn't notice any new tricks really, but I liked seeing him work the body again and I noticed he was going for those left hooks where he comes up high and then cuts down with. The type of left hook that he knocked Rubio out with.

I like that punch because you have to be accurate with it, as it's a hard punch to get good leverage on. He went for it a bunch of times with Canelo, but Canelo has great head and upper body movement so he couldn't land it flush.

Golovkin should focus more on counterpunching off the backfoot and taking less flush shots at this age. He's good at countering on the front but I think he has the ability to box on the backfoot and set up counters that way equally as good, if not better/more effectively. Can't fault him for trying to bring the fight and excitement though. His defensive capabilities are a bit underrated and under-utilized.

I gave him no credit at all. He is a great fighter who is supposed to destroy an average fighter like Rolls and he did what he was supposed to do in devastating fashion. Rolls had never been knocked down before so the famous GGG power is still there. it was just a tune up fight for Canelo in September. He was a bit rusty and needed two rounds to get back in the grove. Rolls won round two. Rolls was not that bad. He was undefeated and ranked 10th in the world but not on the level of Canelo and GGG.

10th in the world? Only 71 places too high.
