I'm having trouble finding people who have actually seen him fight live. Anyone hear seen him? Watching footage sometimes doesn't tell the entire story. Was he really 5'11? That's extremely tall for a welter.

Bro, by the things people say on here I'll say like 90% of them have never even been to ANY live fight. But the closest thing to ssr would b Mosley, cause he was a power boxer. Only thing is Mosley didn't have a jab or triple left hooks or over all skill. He just had the same energy in his punches that ssr seemed to have.

It's possible that I could have seen him on TV Friday Night Fights. Let's say in 57 or 58 against Basilio or Fulmer. I would have been 6 or 7 years old. My old man always watched the fights. The Basilio fight was at Yankee Stadium (we lived in the Bronx) and the Fulmer fight at Madison Sq Garden where I went to a hockey game at the old Garden.

But I didn't see or go to any of those fights. No way the old man had enough money to pay for a stadium fight.

I'm not sure I remember that but I know the late GJC saw Ezzard Charles fight live in person but that was at the end of his career.
