Just after the Joshua fight I saw Shane Mosley's reaction to the result, and because of the way Mosley was slurring his speech, started researching 'punch drunk' and the medical cause - it quickly led to some of the worst cases, which included Meldrick Taylor.

Not as bad as Jerry Quarry though. By age 50 Quarry was unable to feed or dress himself - astonishingly, he was allowed to fight just 3 years before that at age 47 (where, of course, he took a beating).

      What a horribly sad situation.

Better get him some legal representation first or he going to have a place to live provided for him.

Reading the article again, sounds like Taylor has a place to live. According to th article Taylor was doing the evicting not being evicted.

did he put his money into property..... and just defend it against someone who wasn't paying rent?

not sure..... but it sounds like he got arrested for bad decision-making

The worst CTE case I've ever seen.

Dude sounded ******ed when he was like 28.

              Now, he's unrecognizable.

              Where is his family/friends.

Taylor went on to win a lot of fights including world title against a very good fighter at 147 after Chavez. It's comical how people pretend that Taylor went downhill right after that fight. It's a weird way of trying to give Chavez credit for something so ridiculous.

I’d bet anything Chavez had some margarito wraps. There’s no possible way to inflict that much damage.

Win or lose the damage he suffered in that fight was irreversible. Had he got the victory I guess that soothes the pain but he was still beaten brutally.

The other angle is, when the ref feels a fighter has had enough he should not let the fight continue, simply cause the guy is ahead on the scorecards. In this instance that would be robbing Chavez of his remarkable comeback.
