I think the opposite. The rematch does better financially if done in the UK as it will fill a stadium there. I would agree with you about it doing better in the USA if it was PPV and not DAZN. My opinion of DAZN is they are not going to be big in America.

AJ is huge in the UK and they love a loser. So I got to agree with OldTerry on this. Vegas would work, maybe not as well. Ruiz is from Southern California near by so maybe T moble. I realize the fight won't be at Wimberly. So a stadium with a roof in UK, 02, or MSG.

DAZN has a target they’re trying to meet with subscription this year and I remember Skipper saying they’re still far off earlier this year.

I believe they thought the Wilder fight will happen this year, hence they made Josh take the MSG fight to get his feet wet before fighting Wilder. But Wilder signing contracts to fight Ortiz and Fury put a spanner in the plan. So they need something to get things back on track.

His defence has always been pedestrian and he uses his guard and moving out of range.

However, you can never question his recovery and will. Dillian Whyte hit him with a big left hook to the temple and he recovered really. Wladimir hit him with a lot of big shots and a hammer punch and he recovered really well apart from showing will. But Ruiz slapped him with hook shot and he was drunk all night. Something doesn’t add up unless Ruiz had stones in his gloves.

We'll see a completely diff AJ, I mean the fight was Ruiz from the 3rd round but the 1st was even and AJ had the second. If he only goes for the kill when Ruiz is hurt, then he will be be okay. His head movement, lateral movement and tying up when there is danger will be the key to his fight. I don't worry about him offensively.

Good fight for me, the sooner you get back in there to rectify it the better.

He didn’t take forever to recover. He punched himself out. Take a few big shots from Vlad in the 6th rd and got dropped by the hammer shot in the 7th rd. Fought through it in the 8th rd and he recovered in the 9th rd.

Ruiz also “let him off the hook” but he just never got his legs back.

The fatigue could be explained by the concussion received in the third, as its a common symptom depending on the type of concussion received.

As for the jab - for sure, that needs to go out like a piston and not a feather tickler, else the fight likely end up the same.

His hands also need to stay up! Even his corner told him that. Then he went back to dropping his left 1st and then his right started getting lower and lower then he would spring it up and practically behind his head. He was just winding his right back waiting for the perfect time to strike which never came. That was his worst sin IMO.

How is Joshua winning a rematch by decision? Simple answer is biased judges and a biased referee. Joshua doesn't have to actually win he just hast to show up and finish on his feet.

Question-assuming AJ doesn't get a new trainer, is it possible Ruiz does to him what Navarette just did to Dogboe and end up beating him just as badly?

I am of the impression that when you take a real hard knock on the head, it can affect your performance in the ring for the rest of the night, i.e. Froch-Groves I. Not the best example since Froch won that fight, but you get my point.


I don't think Joshua has the worst gas tank keeping in mind these guys are giants. What we now know is that Ruiz has the ability to beat his ass. We'll see what happens next time. I see Joshua winning, but maybe Ruiz will prove me wrong again. If he does, this is a different division and PBC has all the belts at heavyweight in-house.
