Great news! Cant wait for these fights. yea wilder may be "ducking" but Ortiz, fury, breazeale, ortiz II, Fury II is a nice run of interesting fights. This is good for boxing IDC who you are. Plus good precedent for Spence-Crawford
Dont think this isn't PBC/TR coming together against DAZN. Eddie's 2 guaranteed years are up in early 2020, and while I think they pick up first option, may be for lower $$

I don't even think it's ducking. It's more the American media corps. basically freezing out dazn and saying good luck making fights in the US. They have Canelo and Joshua but the biggest names outside of that aren't there. And the opponents they have for them are sort of lack luster unless you want GGG 3 for canelo.

Im not pro-AJ, pro-Fury or pro-Wilder but I want to see them fight compelling fights. Ortiz is moderately compelling because of the first fight's mild dramatics. The Fury fight is definitely compelling since (IMO) Fury won the rounds while Wilder had the KDs.
I think Wilder wins both these, Ortiz appears to be getting older each fight and Fury would have to avoid getting clipped all 12 rounds in a rematch and Wilder will have better idea of timing.
If Wilder wins these two fights, he certainly gives himself a lot more leverage for how the fight with AJ is broadcast (PPV, streaming, etc) and the percentage he gets.

I'll be the voice of reason for both sides. Wilder vs Ortiz 2 and Wilder vs Fury 2 are fights great for Hwy Boxing. I would like to see Wilder vs AJ but I have no problem with Wilder taking two rematches before AJ.
Hearn and AJ still have good fights available. Uysk and Dubois could be solid fights. Miller is still out there and could be sold as unfinished beef.Joe Joyce may get a shot and could sell in the UK.
Jermaine Franklin or Kornacki if they raise their profile in the US in next two years. Whyte is back on the table if AJ fans in the UK want to see that again.
Wilder vs AJ probably isnt happening until 2021. DAZN is going to have to make due with stars like Haney, Canelo, and AJ fighting dangerous young prospects if they want to keep the publics attention.
The problem with DAZN is Matchrooms stable isnt deep enough to make consistent marketable fights.
They made the mistake of signing a bunch of guy in different divisions who cant fight each other. PBC and Top Rank have entire divisions on lock.
The networks/promoter in the US arent going to let the Brits control the Boxing game. PBC made a MAJOR investment in boxing to keep the ball rolling after the Floyd gravy train.
They took major risks and have spent a lot of time and money developing the Wilder/PBC brand. Wilder being on free TV may be a thing of the past but them investing in people like him are the big reasons boxing is still relevant in the mainstream in America.
Hearn made a big mistake pissing off Haymon/Finkel. They tend to be very smart business men who can out maneuver any opposition and will blackball any promoter who feels they can bully themselves into a market(US) they they basically built.
Add Arum to the mix and Hearn is basically at the mercy of the American boxing cabal. De La Hoya is a big player but his main chip is Canelo and the next big Latino star is signed to Arum in Teofimo Lopez who is 100x more marketable to the American market than Canelo.
On a side note, Im super high on Lopez. I think he could be a MEGA star with the right promotion. He has the personality and boxing style to be a mainstream pop star.
Wilder is never going to shut up the AJ fanatics until he puts AJ on is @$$. Out of all the fights I listed of AJ the Uysk, Dubois, and Franklin fights are the only guys who could give AJ trouble.
If Hearn really wants to get into the the US market he needs to tone down the Brit bully act and start selling his fighters to the REAL sports fans in the US.
He's done a good job of getting peoples attention but he's turned off a lot of fight fans in the US with his antics.
I could give his team a GREAT lesson on understanding sports culture in the US. Hearn needs cultural consulting, total rebranding, and a fresh approach to getting his foot in the door in this market.
He's got limited time to get his act together. AJ is gonna get pissed if his profile and purses start to fall. John Skipper at DAZN is gonna be pissed if other networks are raking in the money while DAZN struggles with lackluster fights.
I cant tell AJ fans how to feel about their fighter. They are going to have to be the people who support his platform while he fights everyone not named Fury or Wilder for the next 2 to 3 years.
What it boils down to is Hearn is going to have to promote AJ vs a lot of young Hwys in order to keep AJ fans interest. He is also going to need to spend a good amount of time raising these other guys profiles in order to keep AJs legacy in tact.
Overall this could be good for boxing because guys like Dubois, Uysk, Kornacki, and Franklin could have good showings and bring even more contenders for the title.Last edited by Joe Gans Louis; 05-31-2019, 11:37 PM.

Wilder v Fury confirmed?
Not the fight I wanted to see early 2020/late 2019 but it is the best of the rest quite comfortably so looking forward to that one.
Wilder is properly betting on himself now with this one... if he comes through Tyson Fury then he will no doubt get his 50-50.
