FOX can promote better than showtime.
Per Fat Boy Dan - Wilder vs Ortiz 2 going to FOX PPV

Here is what i think will happen
1. Wilder vs Breazeale > Joshua vs Ruiz
2. Wilder vs Ortiz > Joshua vs Pulev
3. Wilder vs Kownaki > Joshua vs Char (or whoever is the mando)
4. Wilder vs Fury/Whyte >>> Joshua vs XYZ
Team Wilder...So AJ and Hearn, who is the A-side now? Wanna talk 50-50 and a fair rematch clause? Otherwise, we have another similar 3 fight deal in waiting.
Its all about finances and ego at this point.Comment

Just reading through the comments. Could somebody explain to me why Wilder v Ortiz 2 would do better on Fox PPV than Showtime PPV?Comment

To be fair, Ortiz didn't look too impressive in his last few fights before the first Wilder fight either. Maybe he'll give Wilder a run for his money again or maybe even beat him, who knows.
We all knew that Wilder isn't fighting Fury or Joshua this year, so I don't know why everybody's so surprised. I personally would prefer Kownacki but Wilder will probably fight him next so it's all good.
Wilder won't fight Joshua until AJ, who's running out of decent opponents, is desperate and give Wilder the money he (Wilder) thinks he deserves. I belive that's the plan. Sucks for us boxing fans, but oh well, we're all used to our sport disappointing us.
Anyhow, I'm not outraged that this fight is happening and will watch it because the first one was bomb.Comment

I did notice that this contract was signed with date and venue TBA. I thought date and venue TBA was like garlic to a vampire to Finkel and Wilder?? Although with the Joshua offer EVERYBODY knew the date and venue it just wasnt in writing.Comment

Ortiz is a decent choice and while we saw it before it was considered one of the best fights of last year so a rematch is workable and it is not like it was an immediate rematch they had fights between.
The problem would be there are still better options that should be explored first before moving to an Ortiz fight. I fully understand not waiting and doing your own thing rather than just waiting to be dictated terms to, still should do due diligence on the better fights to see if anything changed.
It is a big waiting game to see who gets desperate first, not just Joshua and Wilder (even Fury) it goes beyond all that pretty much to the top.Comment
