Steve Rolls is not that bad - change my mind

Kind of my point man - we should be on here to talk boxing, this was a thread about Rolls. You admit you never have watched him yet are saying he sucks and trying to argue from a position of intellectual superiority on the matter.
I mean that's cool I guess but I am here to have a boxing discussion and you and many others who say he sucks have never watched him at all. I was feeling similar to you actually then I watched him and did some research and don't feel he is that bad. Comparable to an Aleem.
If anyone has some thoughts on Rolls and has actually watched him I would be interested in those. Just strange to see people say a guy sucks, then when someone says they looked into it and he doesn't seem that bad, the guys who say he sucks have never actually watched him.
Yet you guys are trying to give me sh.it lol. Just bizarre. Anyway best of luck to you. I like Rigo as well, wish he would be more active.Comment

Damn right.
Again, some no hopers need more attention than others for some unknown, illogical reason

I'm not hyping him up and even if I was why would I change my name. Not like I'm on here saying a guy sucks and then admitting I never actually watched him fight lol.
Even if GGG rolls through him that doesn't really mean he sucks anyway. GGG rolled through just about everyone he faced and some of those guys are most certainly better than Rolls.Comment

Never did I claim I have seen NOTHING of him. I've seen about as much of rolls as any sane person on the site not related to him. He was announced, I said "who?" Looked at one video on his highlights, looked at the context behind his career saw what everyone is saying, a 35 y/o with no real experience on 10 rd fights with only one sort of recognizable name on his entire resume.Kind of my point man - we should be on here to talk boxing, this was a thread about Rolls. No need to invest more time on a fighter that is more than likely to get destroyed.Comment

Cool, cong**** man. You are my new sig for a while, until I run into a similar situation. Don't worry it shouldn't take long on this site. Be well.Never did I claim I have seen NOTHING of him. What an honor.
Maybe is a loss in translation on my part but my point still stands. you don't need to know much about rolls to know he's a no hoper. I've seen literally 2 minutes worth of his entire resume. Nothing out of the ordinary. Things I've seen from people like Monroe do against opposition of a much greater threat and GGG gave him free shots.
The fight vs Rolls is nothing interesting and Rolls is nothing but a c level fighter with an attractive win:loss ratio against mediocre opposition. No one on this forum shares your point of view.Comment

First off , Rolls is coming into this fight with no experience
Yes a talented amateur but not the same as the pro’s , would of needed minimum six seven fights , gradually raising his opponents caliber
He looks flat footed and very square to his opponent which leads me to believe that he’s their to get hit , that’s why he comes in and tries to fight on the inside
Now against weak opposition his strategy looks good and obviously worked for him but I doubt with a GGG
I don’t see any snap in his punches that can make a GGG think twice before coming in
He’s not extremely fast and a little predictable ( from the little footage on him )
He likes to go to the body but will he be willing to take one to get one
He clinches a lot imo , will GGG let him get away with it , I doubt it and believe experience will get him their
I don’t see how Rolls can win fighting off his back foot , I think GGG will be coming forward and Rolls will have no answer
No power , no great movement ( kind of hard getting hit and going backwards ) this will lead to a 2 or 3rd round knockout
GGG will smell blood and jump on it , I didn’t dont see it any other way
By any means I am not a GGG fanboy
I’m a Steve Rolls fanboyComment

I think he doesn't have much of a chance because GGG is still more less the same guy, and GGG will get anyone B level or below out of there and will do it quickly. What an honor.

But from what I saw from Rolls I don't think he is the 76th of whatever best MW in the world, he looks like a top 20 type guy to me. I backed it up with why I thought so.
Would prefer to see GGG in with Andrade or Charlo or someone else at 160 and I'm sure that will happen after this fight. DAZN owes him too much money for him to keep fighting the Steve Rolls of the world. Just think Rolls is not as bad as has been portrayed.Comment

Lol thanks man. Best post on here so far. Good insights and I think it will basically come down to if Rolls is able to do anything to frustrate GGG and slow him down.First off , Rolls is coming into this fight with no experience

As you pointed out, Rolls appears to have some good inside game when it gets there. Looks like he tries to hit and then grab/hold and do some work on the inside. Murray tied GGG up quite often and it delayed his KO. Wade tried to but wasn't able to pull it off.
If GGG is finding the jab early, which I expect, he should back Rolls up and Rolls will probably be dinner after that. Maybe a few rounds.
I think Rolls keeps good distance though and has a decent right hand to keep GGG honest enough. But if GGG is finding the jab it's probably over early for Rolls.Comment
