Jones would beat the you know what out of him at that time thats why the fight was never made, no one wanted to see it .

I just took that Title to get people in here.

Just excuses, but the brits story we all know.
Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn(I heard he didn't want to fight Roy)
With Henry Maske,Graciano Rocchigiani, Dariusz Michalczewski, is the Germanfactor, finde ich übrigends ziemlich geil den Ausdruck.
Aber keine Ahnung ob die in den USA gekämpft hätten.

Joe Calzaghe wasn't that big at that time, i can remember well when nearly all of the Us people here said that Lacy would kill him.
"He is a overprotected European" and so on and now he is a fall of famer. You have to look at him at that time.

The Fireman and Policeman story again...everyone fights against some low opponents, today this forum is full of xxx is ducking yyy threads...

He didn't want to be roughed up, and that is an actual quote from him. Personally, I think that's what seperated him from someone like Ray Robinson, Marvin Hagler, or what have you. It's a bussiness and it's their lives, sure; but the potential for greatness is not enough to be considered great. Bert Sugar has him placed somehwre i n the 90's for the top 100 fighters, and it's a shame.

He could have even stayed at heavyweight and unified the division. I am sure he could have done that and saved us all this grief.

His ability was amazing, I just regret he couldn't or wouldn't show us more.

        the names

I think he would have beat most of these potential fights a few years back.

        Holyfield (I call for Roy)
James Toney II (I call for Roy)
        Lennox Lewis (not sure, actually)
        Chris Byrd (Jones)
the Klitchkos (not sure, but lean to Jones)
        Steve Cunningham (not sure)
Chris Eubank (I call for Roy)
Nigel Benn (i think Benn might win, tougher version of Griffin and Johnson)
Steve Collins (he beat Benn and Eubank twice, flew across the ocean, went to rj's house and asked for a fight with a 60-40 split in the US for jones, and turned him down, but not sure who win there either)
        Hopkins II (not sure really)
        Vassily Jirov (Jones)
        Michealzewski (Jones)
        Calzaghe (not sure)
        Mclellan (not sure)
        Tyson (Jones)
        Graciano Roccigiani (jones)
        Mcallum earlier (Jones still)
        John David Jackson (not sure)
Frankie Liles (who gave jones a standing 8 count in the amateurs, still Jones)
        Terry Norris (jones)

I'd love to have those fights on dvd wouldn't you? I'd have settled for even a third of them...

Many people thought McClellan was the guy to beat him. Many people thought Eubank was the guy to beat him. Many people thought Nunn was the guy to beat him.

Roy would have destroyed every body on your list except for the G-Man. Actually wait...maybe not Calzaghe.

I think the point is that No most of them are not hall of famers but the ARE respectable fighters which does not make them so called "bums" ..there for Roy Jones had a respectable record .

Jones makes all of his opponents look like nothing. Quoted from Derrick "Smoke" Gainer in the beyond the glory documentary

Do we really need to dig up the comments from Eubank and Benn where they both admit they didn't want to fight Jones and thought he would have beat them?

Everytime this issue comes up Juy starts his spinning (out of insecurity) yet he's the first one defending Joe Calzaghe, who missed out on almost every big fight imaginable in his own division. In that case it was clearly everyone's fault BUT Joe's.

Well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Many people felt Nunn and Eubank could of beaten him, even though they had losses on their records and weren't getting any younger.

In my opinion Joe Calzaghe would have won against Roy Jones because of his southpaw stance. He didn't fought well against Tarver because his left hand is much better than his right, which was neutralized.

Edit: Wow 10minutes ago i thought i would have to argue with the whole forum, but now... brothers stay up
