Making a thread every month about RJJ ducking people isn't going to make people change their mind. I wonder how many threads there are with these opinions... You could make a 15 page article about RJJ ducking people and fans won't change their mind all of a sudden.

I think you all should just put this to rest. Although that will never happen...

still unbeaten the dq is a win and nothing else

      51. Fight Antonio Tarver, Tarver landed one jab in the first round and landed a lucky punch with his eyes closed in the second wow

      52. Fight Antonio Tarver well you can’t win a fight if you throw just 8 punches in some rounds, don’t get what happened there to Roy .

As you can see, many of them were champions or still are champions after their roybout.

I don't care if i got something wrong, but i would love to show you, that many of your favourite boxers hadn't better oppositions.

Really? Who didn't he? Other than... Eddie Machen perhaps? Which didn't happen because other fights eventuated first. Henry Clark? Bobick? Oh yeah, Ali was too busy during these years fighting Frazier, Norton, Shavers etc.

Ali fought everyone. And so did a fair few other ATGs.

It was more to make a point ...the fact that you can say this about any fighter and make it sound true .

In 1992, he turned down Lamar Parks and Nigel Benn, and early in 1993 turned down Julian Jackson. It went on.. Gerald McClellan was turned down over again, then Mike Nunn for five years, Eubank was turned down in 96/97, and the European guys were turned down, too. As a boxing fan, I want to see those fights, it's frustrating. Atleast Chris Eubank admitted that he wouldn't defend against certain guys (Herol Graham, Mike McCallum, Mike Nunn, Roy Jones, James Toney) unless he was paid certain ammounts of money, that he was a businessman before he was a boxer. Jones wouldn't even admit it, infact Jones turned down the biggest money offer of his career to fight Eubank in Iran, so maybe it wasn't even money that would of got Jones into the ring?? ****ing annoying.
G-man and Roy said they talked about fighting as pros but they wouldnt do it untill both were champions and the price was right .

It's a bussiness and it's their lives, sure; but the potential for greatness is not enough to be considered great. Bert Sugar has him placed somehwre i n the 90's for the top 100 fighters, and it's a shame.

He could have even stayed at heavyweight and unified the division. I am sure he could have done that and saved us all this grief.

His ability was amazing, I just regret he couldn't or wouldn't show us more.

              the names

I think he would have beat most of these potential fights a few years back.

              Holyfield (I call for Roy)
James Toney II (I call for Roy)
              Lennox Lewis (not sure, actually)
              Chris Byrd (Jones)
the Klitchkos (not sure, but lean to Jones)
              Steve Cunningham (not sure)
Chris Eubank (I call for Roy)
Nigel Benn (i think Benn might win, tougher version of Griffin and Johnson)
Steve Collins (he beat Benn and Eubank twice, flew across the ocean, went to rj's house and asked for a fight with a 60-40 split in the US for jones, and turned him down, but not sure who win there either)
              Hopkins II (not sure really)
              Vassily Jirov (Jones)
              Michealzewski (Jones)
              Calzaghe (not sure)
              Mclellan (not sure)
              Tyson (Jones) Graciano Roccigiani (jones)
              Mcallum earlier (Jones still)
              John David Jackson (not sure)
Frankie Liles (who gave jones a standing 8 count in the amateurs, still Jones)
              Terry Norris (jones)

I'd love to have those fights on dvd wouldn't you? I'd have settled for even a third of them...

u have just made your self look very very ******

It amazes me how people can sit back waaay after the fact and judge a fighter. Roy is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Its easy for people to sit back now and say he ****** or fought less competition. You dont accumulate that many wins and be an average fighter.

Its not that these guys were bums, its just that Roy was that good. The greatest example is the Toney fight. He made Toney look average, and we all know Toney is an A list fighter.

Stop the hate, its just disgusting.
