What about that young kid who is like 15 supposed to be a prodigy just signed with top rank. They saying he could be the next PR superstar. This shyt all goes in cycles. Right now PR is kinda down but just a matter of time until the next hyped up kid who everyone rallies around comes.
Xander Zayas, I'm waiting for his pro debut. Puerto Rico also has a young amateur kid Lionel Colon, he has a few years before he hits pro though.
I know DSG was born in the U.S. but you know if they make the Danny vs. Mikey fight they going to advertise Mexico vs. Puerto Rico on that fight.
Other young prospects to consider are Subriel Matias and Danielito Zorrilla at 140.
Joseph Adorno at 130.
Angel Acosta at 108 is doing well right now.
Other possible prospects are Edgar Berlanga at 160, Janelson Figueroa at 147.
It's been really quiet with P.R. boxing, hopefully someone can emerge soon.
Jose Bonilla and Ricky Marquez are the main culprits for the lack of PR stars
They have no real managerial skills and suck as trainers all while they scout young talent sign them to bs contracts and throw them to the wolves just to make a quick buck
In fact, word is Verdejo is slowly going to break away from Marquez later this year
All is left is that Jose Bonilla keeps away from the PR amateur circuit
They have Danny Garcia.... If he fights Mikey that would be a good PR/Mex fight
Danny has fought MANY mexicans but the PR vs Mex angle don't get much play. Hell his last fight was against a Mexican and in Cali and nobody treated it as some PR vs Mex showdown. Danny last 2 out of 3 opponents were Mexican (Granados, Brando Rios), before that fought Robert Guerrero. Did any of these seem like a real PR Mex Showdown? lol A fight with Mikey won't either. Danny is a Philly fighter thats what he reps that's what you think about when you see him and doesn't speak Spanish.
