1 million ppvs now. Maybe 1.2 next year.
How Many PPV Buys Does Wilder vs Joshua Do?

I agree, no fight will touch those numbers for a long time.
When I say record-breaking, I mean maybe it could land in the top 10 PPVs for the heavyweight division. Similar to a Mike Tyson fight in the range of 1 - 2 mils.Comment

So even with DAZN involved you guys think it will be on ppv?
If they do copromotion DAZN will have it on their app and showtime will do PPV. More people will watch it through DAZN since it's cheaper.Comment

I think unfortunately it would be similar to the Kov-Ward fights, as far as the PPV buys not coming close to what they should be for that type of fight.
Kov-Ward didn't do 300k in two fights! That's wild. Wilder-Fury did 325k apparently. I don't think Wilder-Joshua does close to 1 million personally. I think it is maybe over 500k; I would guess 500k give or take 100k. Just depends on if a lot of bars/restaurants pick up the fight imo. That could bump the number up significantly. But they seem to only do that for big Canelo fights, and Manny and Floyd fights.
Exciting as Wilder-Joshua would be, I just don't think the fan base is there for them to do big numbers on PPV.
If someone has numbers/a rationale for why it would do close to 1 million I am all ears, I just don't see it these days. Casual boxing fans don't know Joshua from Ortiz and Ortiz from Wilder.
Where would all of these buys come from?Comment

1 million buys? are you guys serious, AJ has no fights in the US and we expect 1 million Americans are going to throw 80 dollars at this fight? UFC has a way better promo system and they struggle to get a million. DC vs Jones rematch was more anticipated in the states and it got 800k buys at 60 dollars a pop and DC and Jones were way bigger stars than AJ/Wilder, PPV numbers I'd say Min 500k, Max 650KLast edited by Blueboy3; 05-19-2019, 12:50 PM.Comment

Right now, around the 1m mark at max, possibly slightly lower.
But by next year, if AJ does 2 more REAL (as not Andy Ruiz type bums) fights in the US and dispatch them in style like Wilder did today, and Wilder too continues fighting the kind of opposition he has fought recently and not what he used to do 2 years ago, then it will definitely cross 1.5m and could possibly be around the 2m mark.
Ortiz, Kownacki, and possibly Fury are good line-up for Wilder. I am not sure AJ has a similar level of fights coming up if he has to fight his mandatories (the likes of Pulev and Char/Bryan).Comment
