You're not too far off, I saw an interview where Duran said he "dedicated " his victories to both Panama and Mexico. In any case I would rank Chavez as number 1...

I feel like the legendary Mexican fighters are hating on Canelo, JMM actually attempted to claim that Jacobs won the fight, now Chavez is saying, that Canelo, who commercially has surpassed any Mexican fighter ever, and is developing into an All Time Great, is not a top 3 or 4 fighter of all time in the context of Mexican fighters.

That's BS, crap, of course he is, there has never been someone like him, he crossed over to a level superstardom that is unprecedented. Chavez was beloved in Mexico, and greatly respected in the US.

Canelo is beyond that, he is a crossover mainstream sports star, much more marketable than Chavez ever was, there is a massive difference, and if he continues to develop at this rate, he will be seen as the greatest Mexican fighter of all time hands down.
I think the problem with your line of thinking is that you are using ‘popularity and fame’ as your criteria, whereas JCC was most likely talking about in ring ability.

Modern technologyband marketing makes it much easier to market and sell fighters now than in decades gone by. But that does not mean that fighters are necessarily better in the ring.
Its akin to claiming that Errol Spence is better than SRL because he has more twitter followers.
This isnt to diminish Canelo as a fighter, just show the difference in criteria being used

          Yeah.

I'm an expert of mexican boxing and I think the same

Canelo is in the 7-10 place right now

In time Canelo will be top 5 or top 4, his resume is absolutely stacked and there’s much more for him to do!

He can be undisputed at 160 which no Mexican has ever done!

Be in very small company by being a 4 division champ

Add to his already stellar resume

He’s got time to do all those things as he’s only 28!

I believe though that he's going to surpass everyone on that list except the top 2.
I know. Thanks, for reminding me. I've already apologized for that comment. I stand corrected

                      Chavez
                      Sanchez
                      Olivares
                      Zarate

These are the top 4 without a doubt.

5th spot is up for grabs between guys like JMM, Canelo, Saldivar and Lopez etc...
