If the contract had stated over 170=no fight I don't think Jacobs would have come in overweight, if for arguments sake he had Canelo's team could have forced him to shed the excess weight which would have significantly weakened him.

You couldn’t make that clause stick. Surely I t would be Canelo quitting with no justification. The basic rules for the belt and for the actual fight don’t refer to rehydration so Jacobs can do what he likes. If Canelo backed out he would be the one in breach.

Canelo’s team aren’t crazy so they just tried to discourage it instead.
