DAZN hasn’t even been around a year in the U.S. so I see no reason for alarm yet.
I'm not sounding an alarm. I've been saying they are in debt cuz you're supposed to be in debt right now doing what DAZN is doing.

But even AT BEST ($96M) with their income in the US thats $30M/yr to spend on the rest of boxing, Bellator, the other sports they have, production, on air talent (Ak & Barak ain't working for free ya know) after Canelo ($66M/yr). I think it's a solid bet they are in the hole more than expected in the US hence the price change so early in the game.

Why are people comparing netflix. A primarily boxing channel is never going to come close to the largest streaming service. Thats like saying its ridiculous that a local hardware store doesn't out sell Home Depot.

I think the price change was always planned. It makes sense to reward the consistent subscribers. 8.33 is cheaper than 9.99. The people that were going to sign up for 9.99 for one month then quit just for big fights provide no value for Dazn so make them pay 20 because why? They will still pay it come fight day because its 60 bucks cheaper than ppv

Then y'all will be saying "$40 bucks a month is a deal. You usually pay $80 for a PPV."

Remember these same people told you $10 a month for boxing was a great deal just q couple of months ago. Now they're telling us $20 a month is a great deal.
Thats the thing I've been curious of since the price bump.

I'd bet they don't raise it so soon (Sept) like you're suggesting, and if they do thats a really bad sign, but idk how they keep things moving in 2-4 years if they sign a major sport at these expenses without bumping up the price, offering different sport buying options or just ditch boxing. I mention ditch boxing cuz at a certain price I don't think its a mutually beneficial relationship between high level boxing, the average boxing fans bank account & the expense of boxing for DAZN if boxing can get more mainstream sports fans.

I'd bet it wasn't planned so much as an option if they didn't come out of the gate strong. So they probably did have it in their playbook but not this early in the game I'd argue.

And the removal of the free trial thing is a really strong indicator they are doing worse than expected in the US cuz ffs Netflix has been around forever & they still got a free trial offer. I canceled Netflix several years back & they still periodically sent me "try us again for free" 1 month trial offers.

Lol. If you cancel Adobe software programs they give you offers like 1-2 months free...

I think too many people don't even understand that DAZN is a sports app. They aren't primarily one sport at all let alone boxing.

And of course people are going to compare it to Netflix cuz its the most similar model of what they are doing thats been a success. DAZN is just effing with sports & Netflix with movies/shows.

Hell I still speculate Netflix & Amazon Prime could become direct competitors to DAZN one day & Amazon was my main guess of who could be the first to really make a play for boxing in the streaming sphere til DAZN popped outta nowhere to do it.

I'd ask them a simple question:

After Canelo's last fight your couldn't convince half his fans to pay $9.99 a month so this time around how are you going to convince them to drop $100 now instead of coming back in September and paying $20 for another Canelo fight?

They actually cut the price mang. For $100 you can get a whole year of DAZN or buy a Mayweather McGregor fight. Before it was $120 for a year of DAZN. They cut the price for the fans.
