He might want a full camp before the fight considering his age. its likely the last chance he'll get at a belt so he would want to be in top condition not forced into a hectic short camp. Just a thought..

there is no way ortiz gets offered $5 million for one fight ever again. if AJ faces Hunter .. after that he has wilder, fury, wlad, whyte, chisora and usyk to choose from. ortiz will be last on that list and i doubt the same payday would be offered.

6-7 weeks is not that short of a camp. AJ would have the same time frame to adjust to a southpaw.

Yeah, Ortiz should take the fight.

It's very good money and a great opportunity to pick up 3 world titles. If he wins there's potential for even bigger money for the rematch.

Haymon should not get in the way of that.

It's really not 6-7 weeks. It takes time to get sparring partners together and setup other logistics, unless you expect him to just come for a check and get knocked out.

If it's available I agree he should still take it, nobody else will pay as much.

You make some good points, that is a career high payday for ortiz or one of. Im not sure what to think about the situation now to be honest. Like you say there's adjustments aj will have to make. I would have preferred to see the fight before ortiz fought wilder. Ortiz to me has looked his age in the ring since that fight and isnt getting any younger.

I thought he's a monster nobody wants to fight.
Turned out he's really a chicken.
Wilder's best win is a quack.

I'd be surprised if both Joshua and Ortiz wouldn't want a full camp preparing for one another first
