Lopez: The Belt Requirement

Why does he need to get a BS belt to fight Lomachenko but not Commey? What's the logic? Why the hypocrisy? Please enlighten the board.

He’s not beating Commey at this point so Top Rank aren’t going to entertain that route.

Ok the answer is why does he deserve a shot at Commey? He doesn’t! But if he can get that fight then he’d have a chance to win a belt. Loma specifically said if your a champ he’ll fight you. He has a chance. If he doesn’t want to fight Commey then go the WBC route. Also Loma has more belts, credentials and a bigger draw than Commey so it’s a bigger deal to fight him.

You don’t get fights just by begging. Shannon Briggs. Earn it and beat someone.

I hope it does happen because I am genuinely interested in your angle after the fight. I think it will happen but not next and I am fine with that because it’s not competitive or entertaining at the moment.

You’ll not find me saying that AT ALL. I think Commey beats him and that would be bad for his momentum. At least the Loma loss will be forgiven by some. I have not asked for the Commey fight for him and won’t. My stance is let Loma fight Commey because Commey earned it (he won the fight he was told would get him Loma so fair is fair) and then let’s see where Lopez is at. I like the WBC fight best after that but if that’s not available and Berchelt isn’t available and Tank is still ducking then for sure let’s do Loma-Lopez.

Lopez is talking of moving out the division before accomplishing anything in it. That’s chicken**** imo. I hope that fight is signed or has happened this time next year but in the meantime there’s better fights for Loma and better fights for Lopez (ones he will win because IMO he’s cannon fodder for Loma).
