All I know that he never gave Leonard the proper credit he deserved in defeating him that night. Which was a bit bush league if one were to ask me from a man claiming to be a professional prizefighter

One of the prerequisites of a great champion, an all-time great and being a prizefighter is the ability of admitting defeat. All the great champions who had come before him and after him have admitted it but Roberto Duran has not.
Fair enough, but would you also accept that Leonard's actions were underhand, knowing Duran couldn't possibly have been in condition by fight night? Given the ridicule that followed, it doesn't surprise me that he found it hard to give Leonard credit.

On the flip side, the first thing Duran did after the Hagler fight was tell Leonard "you box him, you beat him".
He also rates Leonard above Hagler and Hearns, describing him as "the cleverest".

Duran-SRL 1 is arguably the greatest fight of all time - skill, will, talent, abilities, entertainment, drama, suspense, it had everything.

The second fight, eww yuck, can't watch it. It's embarrassing seeing a man like Leonard clowning around and fighting like a woman.
No, SRL did what he had to do to throw Duran off his game and win. SRL fighting the same style that he fought in for the first fight loses another tough decision. Are you really upset at him adjusting? He's such a complete fighter. Knew his only chance vs Hearn was to bring the fight to him and go to the body, knew that would play in Duran's hands so he had to move and box and throw Duran off his game. He should get vilified for making those adjustments, but instead he should get applauded for being capable for making those adjustments.

Yes, absolutely. Leonard was the master of gamesmanship. He helped wrote the book on it. He never settled for anything less than what he wanted; Everything had to be to his liking before he took on a challenge; From declining skills, quick return bouts, large rings, thumb less gloves and the whole nine yard.

Leonard was so scared of Hearns he ran for the first 3 rounds. It was only until Leonard manned up and closed the distance did he finally make the adjustment as you said when he went to the body and found that opening. It cost Leonard one of his eyes but he found that Hearns had a glass chin and he won. That's boxing for me, robust strategy, running is not boxing, that's killing the sport.

And our conversation is officially over. Respect you have your own opinion but I totally disagree and we will leave it at that.
