Duran didn't take many training camps "serious" and always liked to party, so why are the excuses just used when he lost these fights? It's okay, he lost to two ALL TIMERS and he's still widely recognized by most as a top 10 fighter of all time.
You obviously know little of Duran’s career a lot of people consider him the top lightweight of all time What if they had p4p rankings back then when he jumped up and beat an undefeated 25yeR old Leonard 147.He also beat Davey Moore for 154 And an exciting victory over Iran Barkley for 160 tittle.Gave hagler a tough fight no matter what your opinion was on the scoring the judges had Duran winning after 12 rounds.

"I didn't train" should never be used as an excuse or accepted as an excuse. If you didn't train, you got your ass klcked because you deserved to get your ass klcked, and you have no excuse.

        Great win for Hearns.
(Considring Duran went the distance w/Hagler)

& Marvin blew The "Hitman" out in 3.

        Styles make MF'N fights.

Here's my opinion for Duran-SRL 2 - it had nothing to do with weight, Duran was in fighting shape, its just that Leonard didn't want to fight and ran so Duran said **** it, I'm not chasing this runner.
It's a shame Duran reacted the way he did because he was one with a lot of heart and determination. And the worst part is, that fight was NOT one sided and fairly competitive. SRL just adjusted and made it harder for Duran to close the gap and his movement was giving him some issues, but definitely not one he should have quit in.

And of course 154 wasn't his natural weight class, but dude just went even with the baddest MW of his era the fight prior. That's why Duran is recognized as a top 10 fighter of all time to see where he started from and how competitive he was at all the higher weight classes.

What the hell are you talking about? When did I say he wasn't a total bad a$$? When did I say he isn't recognized as the best LW of all time? I just said the man is widely recognized as a top 10 fighter OF ALL TIME. Take a step back and read the post again with some damn sense.

There are always these excuses from Duran when he loses a fight for not training. First, there was the "No Mas" fight in 1980, then there was the Wilfredo Benitez fight in 1982 and then there is this Thomas Hearns fight in 1984.

Duran is just too stubborn and proud to ever admit that he took an honest asswhoooping from a much superior fighter. Which makes him a chump and a coward in my estimation; Opposite of his all-time great status as a champion.

Well, some call Duran a quitter, others, like myself, call Leonard a runner in that fight. It is what it is.

Duran was weight dropping and hoping like crazy after SRL-2. His record probably would of been more consistent had he stayed at welterweight like Floyd did. But if he didn't move up and challenged himself, we never would have got all those legendary fights he showcased at the higher weights.

Not only is Duran touted as the best P4P lightweight champion of all-time but is also considered one of the best P4P fighters of all-time too and yet it was also the first and only time that he had ever been flattened before; Stretched out on the canvas motionless.

In fairness, Leonard himself has said that he wanted the rematch asap because it was well known thay Duran would blow up between fights. It's also in his autobiography.

Dude, Duran was fighting guys twice his size in weight classes he had no business fighting at, he peaked at 147. How are you going to fault him for that? Smh.
