I don't like the fight at 130. Davis should fight the best he can find at 130, if the plan is to stay at the 130. He should drop that garbage WBA belt too and fight the best competition available with the best money possible.
what do you mean his credentials? his credentials are he's completely shot. are you really going to pretend this is some kind of challenge. hey at least he isn't a 126 fighter and coming off a loss so that's a step up

this is how they trick casuals and fanboys. getting shot guys that have name recognition. no different than danny green fighting roy jones jr. sad career

But the fight he should be gunning for is Lomachenko. Worst case he gets schooled and gets better like Canelo did after fighting Floyd. But I really believe that is a very competitive fight. Davis has legitimate pop and skills. Not sure if he's mentally ready for a challenge like that, but that's why it would be great if he can fight guys like Farmer or Berchelt who will test him in multiple of ways.
I don't really follow or care about any belt rankings. I'd only say that Davis should fight the best, stiffest challenges possible to him at 135, until Loma next year. I'm okay with Gamboa, but make it at 135, and stay there.

and gamboa is a stiff challenge how??? honestly if he wants to fight bums for a while until loma thats cool but this is no challenge. gamboa's last 4 fights: destroyed in a ko loss to castellanos, razor close decision over journeyman level fighter alexis reyes, complete robbery vs jason sosa(who im sure you dont rate highly as loma beat him), and a decision win over miguel beltran jr. i look at that evidence and say this guy is doneeee. you look at it and see challenge?

The only reason I sanction this fight is Gamboa getting a decent payday.

I always knew you were a real boxing fan and knew what's up.

To be honest with you, daggum, I've been thinking about Gamboa and Fortuna as a Davis debut fight at lightweight for a long while. Gamboa is pretty skilled, even at his age, and would show the young gun a couple of things. Fortuna, because Davis would completely destroy him in a fight of the year at 135.

When I saw that, I was like, "Wow.. Davis read my mind." Then a poster mentioned it would be at 130. I was disappointed. At 135, Gamboa is definitely a good fight.

Nah, there's no easy fights for Gamboa at this stage. He's shot.

its not a good fight at any weight. gamboa is done. he lost 2 out of his last 4 and almost lost 3 out of 4. also the competition wasn't that high either. if he still had great skills he would have used them but they are gone. just a shell and a name for the resume. i dont see how crolla is a horrible fight and gamboa is a good fight. you live on a strange planet

                    • i had davis as top 10 p4p but gonna have to replace him if he continues to fight this level of opposition. gamboa on the decline , clearly past anywhere near his best

we are gonna hear "gamboa gave crawford his toughest fight" a ton in this promotion. actually we are not, pbc did not even list crawford as being in their top 5 welterweights in the porter vs ugas telecast

                      davis by stoppage
