But really there is not enough in gatorade to give a fighter an edge. Gatorade is just sugar and it will be used up as fast as it is put in. Regardless how much fluids do fighters get at each break in the fight 1, 2 small swallows. So over all in a fight 12 rounds a fighter may injest rally 6-16 ounces dempending on the corner. So if we were to take into accound the calroc value of total calories burned in a 12 round fight even if two pure boxers faced off the gatoraid would not add anything that for most fighters his body would normanly canabalize during a fight.

Well explain this to me. ALL the other rules take effect starting August 1. Why should there be an exception made for this drink? Vargas wants it so he can rehydrate to about 190 by the time of the fight. **** that, Vegas made a mistake. Now these fighters in Vegas will be chugging the hell out of Gatorade. With this rule, they should also throw in same day weigh ins so *****s can't be fighting 6 weight classes below their natural weights.

Vargas can drink anything he wants to before the fight. He could rehydrate to '190' (no he doesn't go that high in reality) with water. The issue is about what they can drink between rounds. Same-day weighins were done away with to protect fighters. There are problems with both methods though. It cannot be dealt with. Fighters will always avoid fighting at their appropriate weight.

And just to clarify, I don't really mind if fighters have the Gatorade really as long as both can have it. But, it can have a negative effect cause as someone pointed out it is sugar in water. So an athlete deserves the opportunity to have time to get used to any changes.

I don't think the "sticky" situation is too much of a concern as long as the bottles have those caps for your mouth on them. Or a straw would be good. If Mosley and Vargas were to have a 3rd rematch, with this rule fully established, I would be fine with Gatorade myself, whatever. At least then everyone has prior knowledge.

I do consider Gatorade a performance enhancing substance (not drug). But fine if both people can handle it. Springing this as a new rule the week of the fight is unacceptable.

yeah I was really kidding about 190 and people chugging gatorade, of course, they can drink whatever they want before the bell rings (as long as it isn't a drug or something).

Same day weigh ins were done away with for *****s who have to drain themselves to make weight because they don't want to fight in their appropriate weight classes. I have no sympathy for that. I love Vargas, but he's wrong for doing that. Real fighters don't need to drain themselves like that.

If you can't fight at a reasonable weight close to your natural weight then you shouldn't fight.

who gives a **** what Vargas is drinking. Gatorade is NOT REDBULL. Either way, whether it's water or Gatorade...Vargas is still gonna beat Mosely.
