His hands are gonna fail him....he should be far more skilled than these opponents, but brittle hands may get him hurt
Does Paulie have any clue what he's getting into with the bare knuckle boxing?

Pauli's new enterprise
I am a firm believer that many guys do not get the credit they deserve when going into another area of combat sport. One of my favorite competitors was the late Kimbo Slice...People mocked the guy, tried to take away his belief in himself at every pass, and...it was a tough road to hoe.
But Kimbo managed to have some good fights in MMA, and show that while he was never going to be at the top of the heap, he could compete. KImbo had not trained for MMA through his prime and he had to reset, change skill sets thatinitially applied to "walking into another dog's yard, licking the dog and getting out fast."
Paulie is in a similar situation. If one looks objectively through the years one can see that while boxers are the creme de la creme of the fistic professionals, Bare knuckle does teach certain things. First off, those guys who excel can take a lot of punishment. Even losing to professional fighters one can see how these guys can take a shot well. Bare knuckle guys also learn where to punch because if your hand is injured, you can't fight with it at a certain point. bare knuckle guys keep their guards up high, probably because (something we learned in martial arts) if you can protect your face up until the forehead your protecting everything necessary.
How well Paulie does depends on a lot of things. I think he is tough but question whether he can cause problems for the other guy with flighty punches. On the other hand? if Paulie is accurate, he could be a nightmare. I mean you have the jawline exposed, forget even the chin... an accurate puncher could do well. There was not long ago a win chun feller who fought in the championship and did pretty well, finally he lost to the champ, but there appeared to be a transfer where he could use some of the short punches accurately to various affect.
My advise to Paulie? don't try to be mobile. Your legs are not what they used to be...Its just age it happens. Learn to square up with a false line, walk your man down and hit on the jawline. You have fast hands and accuracy and need to see how far that can take you to begin with.Comment

I am the furthest thing from a Paulie fan. But ANYONE who steps into the ring as a pro boxer, is tough as nails. That takes a level of fortitude most of us can't touch.
Regardless of what a mental midget he is outside the ring, he's tough inside it. Just being there is tough.Comment

Have you seen what the "winner" looks like at the end of nearly every single one of these bouts looks like?
What is paulie going to do when his fragile hands break?Comment

I can't imagine how fighting BK can be a great idea for a guy with hand issues since his amateur days. I mean sure I expect Paulie can outbox the sh^t outta the skill level of guy in this BK league, BUT he's still gotta hit these mfers & it seems like a hand injury is at high risk of happening here.
I'm sure Paulie is the best paid guy in the BK league, but being the highest paid guy in a league like this is like being the tallest midget so I can't imagine its worth the risk...unless he can somehow parlay a win over Artem Lobov into a fight in some combat sport vs McConor. Thats the only W I see in this for Paulie. For that reason I suspect thats the real play being made here cuz Paulie making $50k or $100k or w/e he's making here per fight with his hand problems seems like a no win situation since he's got a career outside of the ring already. He's hoping to make 7 digits doe is the thing I believe.Comment

You don't think there is a high risk of him injuring his already brittle hands doe? But yea obviously I agree he's levels above these guys, but you still gotta hit mfers to win.
I contend he's just doing this to fight Lobov & try to parlay that into a fight with McConor in some combat sport for 7 digits.
He's one & out of this BK league I feel like. Or he'll wish he'd been one & out if he sticks around cuz I can't imagine the risk to his hands is worth w/e he's being paid. And he'll probably need 6mos to recover from the fight when he fights BK.Comment
