Why did the ref give Fury a few seconds to walk around after getting knocked down?

Kirkland was KD'd 3 times in the first half of the first round. Any ref would have stopped that.

Most of the complaints in boxing are about early stoppages.
Not always true, but many fans are able to move on.
      Not in this care, unfortunately.

Refs are always damned either way.

I miss joe cortez. He didn't do any of that bs. A quick are you alright, grab the fighters arms and let them continue.

Unless there is a 3 KD rule I don’t think “Any” refs would have stopped it.

It was 22 seconds from the time Fury hit the canvas until the ref resumed the fight (anyone can time it themselves if they have doubts). That is an exceptionally long time. But I don't blame the ref and I'd rather them spend a couple extra seconds checking out the health of a fighter than putting one who isn't fit to fight back into the fray.

              This.

More specifically its a NY thing & stems from the fallout from the Magomed incident several years back.

Once your state commission gets sued for a boxer's severe injury that commission starts to take extra measures with fighter safety. I believe there was articles about this when it became a thing confirming NY refs would be taking a closer look at knocked down &/or hurt fighters.

obviously because the ref is racist and wanted the white man to win that night

Here's a lil piece from an article in 2018 about the Magomed situation having impact on the NYSAC safety standards.

New York has toughened its health reviews following the severe brain damage suffered by heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov in a 2013 bout at Madison Square Garden, a case that resulted in the vegetative fighter’s family winning a $22 million settlement from the state.

“These issues are deep-seated. Commissions don’t talk to each other and share information [on fighters] as they should, and while we’ve tried to ramp up our medical protocols in New York, such as having ringside physicians assessing the fighters between all rounds, how others do it ranges from A to Z,” said Dr. Nitin K. Sethi, the chief medical officer of the New York State Athletic Commission.
When Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez step into the ring on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, observers will be expecting two fighters to provide the kind of head-rattling finish fans crave.

Stop crying Wilder lost 10 rounds and should have lost the fight the first knock down was a slip
